Eclipse Versions

I am using Eclipse Version Juno, Java EE IDE for Web Developers, and have seen different versions. Anyone have a particular version or java version that works better for app development? LA

Hi @LA, Is there a particular functionality that you feel you're missing with your current Eclipse version? An IDE is an Integrated Development Environment, but it's the Android SDK that allows much of the Android-related stuff you're trying to do. Though I do understand that Eclipse and the Emulator can be quite a pain from time to time! I have heard of people using NetBeans for Android development. It's probably worth a look. http://netbeans.org/ Mark

Hi @GoNorthWest and WolfTimJ, I've never heard of the type Tim is using so this was a way of learning and discussing the different versions. I've heard a lot good reviews of NetBeans. They have this other one called mobile for App development, unless I am reading it wrong. Here is a comparison of each: www.eclipse.org/downloads/moreinfo/compare.php www.eclipse.org/downloads/index-developer.php LA

I've used both Helios and Juno, and aside from a couple of very small things, don't notice a single different. Remember that what drives the Android stuff is the Android SDK, and the Android AVD, both of which come from the Google. So, that's really the root of the problem. I'd totally explore NetBeans if you have time, and then maybe write up a pros and cons doc. Lots of people would be interested! Mark

I'd be interested in the differences too. Net beans looks interesting.
