22 Plugins Updated for iOS 6

Hi gang, You may have noticed a slow-down in our ability to release new plugins in the market recently. We noticed too! We finally had to bite-the-bullet and stop working with new plugins until we got all the existing buzztouch plugins updated. We've finally completed this after a few weeks work. All 22 buzztouch plugins are updated to accomodate iOS 6. We've also fixed a bunch of compiler warnings and errors when using Xcode 4.5. Same goes for .java files in Android source - you should not see any compiler errors. Way to many tiny things to list in this post...but...all 22 plugins got... --Control panel, Small UI changes to all index.php pages. "Save" now shows you the JSON data for each screen to make it easier to see what you're working with. --Android, Removed / updated code to prevent .java compiler warnings when compiling with 2.2 API's --iOS, Remove / updated code to prevent Xcode compiler warnings when using Xcode 4.5 --The Maps plugins (iOS version) was updated to open maps in the Native Maps app if the device is running iOS 6. Older devices will still launch Google Maps in Safari. This change was needed after iOS 6 and the new Apple Maps "broke" the logic. If you're running the buzztouch.com hosted control panel you don't HAVE to do anything. Your control panel has been updated. But, you may want to re-download and re-compile your project with these latest changes. This is up to you. If you do this you will need to submit an update to Apple. In most cases it's best NOT to do this unless you're finding issues with the way your app is running on newer devices. If you're self hosted you'll want to download and install these newly updated plugins. Same as above for compiling new versions using the new source - it's up to you to determine if this is needed / best for your app. IMPORTANT: If you're self hosted, DO NOT USE THE DOWNLOAD LINK in your self hosted software to fetch the latest version of each of these plugins. The download URL for each plugin has changed (see config.txt in each plugin). Visit your control panel at buzztouch.com or the plugin market to download the latest version. After you install the latest version in your panel the links in your self hosted panel will point to the new URL's for "download" and "check for update" within your panel. Back to reviewing / fixing / updating new plugins as soon as we can.

Man. The Buzztouch website is so slick and easy to use it is sometimes easy to forget what is going on behind the scenes. Nice one David. Job's a good 'un!

@Arubaman: Great catch! You're right, I confirmed the market download links worked but the download link in user control panels (installed plugins screen) didn't. Got it, fixed. With big updates like this (a hundred files or so) it's likely that we'll find a few more gotcha's. So far so good but ready to hack as needed when somebody discovers something we mortals didn't notice :-)

And, forgot to mention this... This should be the LAST TIME self-hosters need to do this manually. I realize how bogus it is to do 22 updates - tiring! Click, download, click, upload, wait, rinse and repeat. Sigh. We've also been trying to get the 2.1.8 release of the self hosted package pushed out. It has lots of fixes and a few surprises. I'll clue you in on one: The 2.1.8 release will automatically check for plugin updates, download them, and install them. Sweet!!! This means you shouldn't have to worry about this part of the process anymore. There are a few more, that I won't announce (even if you beg) that you're going to FREAK OUT over. Super stoked to get this release done but promised myself I wouldn't divulge anything until this exciting new functionality is completed. Got my super-duper-top-secret-rig working with the new goods but not ready for the gang yet. Famous last words..."trust me", you'll be smiling when you see what I've been up to. I'm smiling as I type this :-)

Awesome updates... Last week I just finished reuploading 34 plugins to my bt server. So I can't wait for the 2.18 release! I've made quite a few customizations this time around. Is it possible to let us know which files are absolutely mandatory to update? Obviously I personally don't want to make the mistake of overwriting my mods! Thanks for all!! :-) If its any similar to Wordpress updates I'm sure it's gonna be sweet

@mysps: "which files are absolutely mandatory to update" None really. I say that because none of the files are "required changes" unless you're running into trouble with your current setup. Changes to the .php files in each plugin directory are mostly cosmetic but do include some adjustments to accomodate for some differences between the bt.com hosted and the self hosted panels. Some of the older plugins were a nightmare for us to keep straight because there were so many different files (depending on where they were installed). Now, all the files are the same whether they are on our server or yours. This just means you don't HAVE to change any of them on your end if they are working. As far as the iOS and Android source. Same idea...most of the updates are simple syntax / compiler warning changes. If you're not getting them, or know how to work around them, you could save yourself some trouble. I guess? LOL. When the 2.1.8 release comes out it will do lots of this automagically. Meaning, if your panel is fine now, you could wait for the 2.1.8 magic and just let it do it's thing.

@david .. sorry i never explain myself well lol.. since losing my first installation of bt server im a bit nervous of the updates and those changes that i made inside of these folders: /bt_v15 /admin /includes /account /files.. im using the custom folder so that wont be overwritten as i read in the forum. as far as plugins im happy and have no problem updating them :) again cant wait for 2.18!!

Thanks. I skipped all the 2.1.7 stuff and it seems like we're in a total state of transition, so humming along with 2.1.6 still... glad to hear 2.1.8 will be geared tword the self hosted installs and the plug-in updating sounds great. but i'm not so sure i like the idea of it automatically updating - if there's one thing i fear and have been burned by is "automatic" anything. I like the notification of an update as avail - but let me decide if i want new files. this always gives you the chance to back up the files, just in case... I'm guessing the new feature might have something to do with duplicationg apps? Or some extension of stobes awesome JSON hacking into the CP? Whatever it is, if you're that giddy @ it then sounds like we're in for a treat!
