To Google Play or not to Google Play

There was a thread about alternative app stores earlier this week and as if by magic I came across this article today. Good short read for those that are looking at publishing on the Android platform. http://marketingland.com/to-google-play-or-not-to-google-play-that-is-the-app-store-question-25689 Ps look out for my BT video tonight, recorded a short 3 mins last night and will upload tonight. Happy Friday all!

Thanks Mac! Great post. If people are considering using alternate marketplaces, they should know that there's also asset fragmentation! Here's a post: http://www.drmop.com/index.php/2011/10/08/the-big-list-of-android-app-stores-where-to-sell-and-what-to-void/ Towards the end is a useful list of asset sizes needed for various marketplaces. If you submit to multiple markets you might have as many as 100 images to produce (I know from experience!). Some accept png's, some jpg's, some main icons are 500x500, some 512x512, 200x200 etc etc

Nice. More exposure does equal more work. Hmm. 9 changes from Sunday, no Suarez? Mental. Still recovering here.

yeah, I'm struggling to understand Rogers' philosophy at the moment. Europa league seemed the best chance for silverware. It seems pointless to concentrate on the league for the next few seasons. It's as if he thinks we'll miraculously be challenging after January. Strange times..

No problem @Yousicc Good to share! Hate to continue the fitba chat but @Raveyd and @Nick - Assume you both saw Suarez goal at weekend? Exquisite stuff. I'll be tuned in on Sunday for the second half. Ps Y'all hear about us beating that wee Catalan team? Teehee.

@MacApple, I can tell you google play yes, amazon yes, nook yes, (they all three work well because they have hardware targeted just for their stores) others well it depends. Let us understand the user. Most people will get apps from the default market app on their phone. Now what I am starting to see is such. More phones are adding 'their' own little market app along side google play. Samsung is a example. Now Verizon is closing down their store. I got the email a few weeks ago. The bad thing about pushing to all the stores is that if you make a update.. and the update now needs pushed all over the place. The question is how to still get noticed on google play... always love the discussions!
