Web App?

Hello to all! Quick inquiry - is there a way to take an iOS app and turn it into a web app? If not, does anyone know of any web application websites that will allow users to distribute their apps for a nominal fee (in this case, $1.99)? The reason I ask is because I've received emails from users who are interested in my app, but don't have the technology to access it. I figured a Web App might be a welcomed accommodation. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again, to the awesome BT community ;) Nicholas

Hi Nicholas, Usually it's the other way around...take a web app and make an iOS app out of it. Or, package it up in some way that it can be sold in the store. I'm not aware of any way to do what you're looking to do, but interested in if anybody else has a solution. Mark

Hey Mark, Thanks for the quick reply - I had a feeling it might be the other way around. Any websites outside that offer building a web app and then selling it for a nominal fee or is that not possible? Thanks again! Nicholas

a web 'app' is really nothing more than a totally optimized website. you can build a website and use a good mobile template or use lots of css to generate a page that looks nice and designed for the phone. webapps are really just a website that add extra stuff like buttons and navigation that emulate the look/functions of an iphone. this is a great one to build with: http://snippetspace.com/portfolio/iwebkit/ kind of hard to sell a website - but what you can sell is a login to a site. so you'd want to put your 'paid' content on a secured page you need to login to. be careful tho, people will not bother to buy your iphone app when they learn that can just pilfer the content from your webiste!

Ditto what @Atrain53 said! It makes more sense to me to create apps for a company than we apps, unless there's no content that would get approved by Apple. If it's basically just marketing info, and nothing that takes advantage of iOS features, then Apple is likely to reject it, and a web app makes more sense. Mark

Hey guys! Thanks for the clarification - makes perfect sense. Not much more I can say, you both covered all the bases for me. Thanks again! P.S. By the way, don't want to impose, but if you'd like to add any input in the issue I am having with AirPrint, well, it goes without saying the help would go a long way :) http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=6ACC50562DDBEC6F7AD1DB4&currentPage=1 * wink wink *
