Plug In Names

So....just wanted to give a heads up PlugIns and Self-Hosted errors. I have been noticing quite a lot of errors associated with same name folders. As developers can I refer to a suggestion that David Book had back a while ago? When naming your folders can instead of naming a folder: "folder" can you name it BT_folder or Dude_Folder or whatever.... something that stands the developer out from the rest. Even in the sub-folders inside the plugin I have been seeing some duplicates in the compiling process and it took me awhile to figure this out. Wanted to let everyone know if they run into the same problem Thanks in advance Sheri

Makes a lot of sense. I guess they ought to be unique across all plugins too.

Xcode 4.5 seems to have addressed this and has a place for your initials when creating new files. That doesn't help us with the Buzztouch generated files, but it shows the direction Apple is heading.

Yup...good discussion here. The BT control panel won't allow anyone to create a new plugin with a name that already exists (that somebody else created). This means you should not be having any difficulties uploading plugins from the BT market to a self hosted panel. But, if you're creating folders and code and class files manually you could run into all sorts of trouble :-) Like @Sheri mentions in her post, it's always best to prefix_ your folder and document names with something unique. This could be images, class files, anything really. Example: If two plugins used an image named "camera.png" collisions could happen. The download process tried to account for this but it's not perfect. So, if joe blow's plugin used jb_camera.png and tony smith used ts_camera.png all would be well :-)

Keeping this in mind, I think it's occurring for old BTM plugins. Thanks for the heads up Sheri. David https://buzztouchmods.com

Will do! Good insight and we should all follow suit!
