AndroidManifest.xml Changed

Hi gang, The AndroidManifest.xml file in your project downloads has changed. You'll notice two simple lines: uses-permission android:name="android.permission.CAMERA" AND uses-feature android:name="android.hardware.camera.autofocus" android:required="false" Several devs. have mentioned needing these permission to support plugins they are working on so we added them. I've been working out an Image Emailer plugin with @GoNorthWest, this is one of them. Expect to see this in the market in the next day or so.

Sweet! For those of you who already have apps in the market, or are currently developing them but do not require camera functionality, there is no need to update your AndroidManifest.xml file. These lines are only needed if your app requires access to the camera. Mark

Sounds great Mark and David! So this would bring back the 1.5 functionality where a user (or the app owner from a login screen on the app) could upload an image from their camera directly to either the control panel or a designated place on the web? Do you know if we are still able to use the previously supplied server script for this? Or if you have a newer version tweaked for 2.0? Super news, can't wait to buy, install and get started using the plugin. Kind Regards Darrel

Image Emailer - sounds very cool, I know lots of folks have asked about this. These updates include Self Hosted right? I'm still trying to finish up the Control panel webinar, but it looked like you explained that the self hosted servers use the same API, so both hosted and self hosted get updated.... I know I'm a ver or 2 behind on Self Hosted, still trying to get a grasp on how to cope with updates.... probably should be one of my questions for the Q &A! regardless, thanks!

i need this :) I had designed a php form workaround but this would be far superior @atrain53 im also self hosted and have trouble with updates. My main issue is there are little tweaks in the code which I lose each time I download an update :(

@ictguy: This is an Image Emailer, not an image uploader. There are technical differences. It sounds like @MrDavid has an Image Uploader plugin on buzztouchmods.com, not sure if you've seen that. It's likely that we'll get on in the BT market eventually.

Thanks David, I was hoping for the Uploader :) I believe the BTmods is an iOS only Image Emailer ... https://www.buzztouchmods.com/downloads.php?cat_id=1&download_id=38 Look forward to the BT market plugin that does Android as well. And hopefully in the future an Image Uploader! Also hoping @MrDavid ports some of the other btmods to the new plugin market (Menu List Advanced) nudge, nudge!

The Image e-mailer is pretty simple compared to the Uploader. The emailer means you have a recipient already in mind and your email client handles the 'upload' of the image. Import the Mailcomposer class into your project, add a few lines of code to attach the image and you've got an emailer. Building an uploader requires some type of back-end service like Parse to sore the images and verify/authenticate uploads per user. It's also nice to have access to the back end as an admin because you don't know what kind of images people will uplaod. I can see the emailer being a BT plug-in, but the Uploader seems pretty complex and really needs to be built into a project. It's much more complex than a screen with an "action" like email.

@atrain53 quite true mate but when you have the BT founder (@David) providing a sample server script for you it seems a whole lot easier :) LOL See here ... https://www.buzztouch.com/docs/v1.5/sample-image-upload.txt BTW my use case is so an app owner can update an image gallery from their phone! Not multi-user with advanced authentication. Now, what would it take to adjust the 1.5 plugin to v2.0? Not too much for a coder with access to the BT 1.5 .m and .h files I'd imagine! Cheers Darrel
