Changing menu on working app

I have been asked to change the look of my magazine app. (which has been running for nearly a year now). I currently use a basic menu but the client wants to use a different one. Anyone know if its possible to change menu at this point. My two main worries are 1)that the change will be so drastic that I will have to rename the app. because I won't be able to use the same titles as before (re no duplication) & 2) such a rename of the app may mean having to re submit to Apple and Google.

Hi, Not sure i understand, but if you haven't got the menu plugins already in the project you will need to send a new build ( new version) to change it if it is "Drastic". No reason to change the name if the app is about the same content.

Hi Kaybee. Firstly thanks for the quick response. I would like to change the menu with image to menu buttons. Have not done anything here for nearly 9 months but I recall that installing a new menu means transferring all the items listed into the new menu and I think this is where I would come unstuck as all the new items have to have new names? I am sure I can't use the same names (which is what I would like to do).

You can have the same names, what you need to do is slightly change current names, like add a dot at the end, then create new items with the original names and away you go.

If I were you, I'd cheat a little. Your current menu is already populated with your screens. 'Whatever' menu you decide to go with, 'cut' the childItems out of your original menu, and paste them into a text file. Name it whatever you want (menuChildItems.txt) and use that as a local filename for the new menu. This will keep you from having to retype everything. Make sure to make the new Menu your 'home' screen (in the layout control panel tab) and you should be good to go, or close to it. Cheers! -- Smug

Before you compile, slap a few more unused plugins into the Project. That will allow you flexibility down the road to revamp screens without having to submit an update to the App. -- Niraj
