Learning Buzztouch

So, I absolutely hate learning from Video, I like to learn from text. How can I learn about buzztouch without driving myself crazy?

Hi @AustinWongCarter, Welcome to buzztouch! I see you're up in Phoenix...I'm down south in Tucson! There are TONS of documents in the How-To section of buzztouch. Everything from how to set up your environment, how to debug, and how to integrate special features. Link is at the top of the site. I'd also just encourage you to play around in your control panel. Create a test app and see how things work! Don't hesitate to post back if you run into any problems. Mark

buzztouch looks like it could produce some pretty decent apps, but I'm afraid it won't work out for me. I can't find anything in the documentation on how to create something as simple as a check box. I think I may have to find something else.

@AustinWongCarter BuzzTouch doesn't really work the way I think you are trying to get it to work. BuzzTouch is like WordPress. If your unfamiliar, bassically, you have templates of "views/screens" that fill up your app. Make sure you watch the video on the homepage, (even though I know you hate that haha). It's quick and painless though.

I would really try to give video training another shot. I would have never tried writing Obj C code until I spent @ 20 min watching some of the early BT videos. David's methods, pace and enthuiasim he shows in the BTU learning path are better than most of the paid videos and training I've seen. Even if you don't use BT, you're cheating yourself out of some excellent free training that is offered here! They have started doing a series of webinars now that are even more informative.

I guess my biggest problem with the training videos, aside from the fact that I can't stand learning by video, is that I can't skip ahead to a section that I'm interested in without looking at all the lessons before it. I don't want to put a lot of effort into learning this system unless it will actually do what I want in the end. I could take the time to look through everything, only to have spent hours on it and find that it won't work for my purposes.

@AustinWongCarter then I recommend you post a thread with some examples of apps that you want to make and ask if it's possible to make them, and why/how or why/how not.

Sure, I am trying to make an app that plays short sound files randomly in succession. There would be checkbox (or other on/off switch) for each sound to determine whether it should be played, and a Play/Stop button to start and stop the process.
