Molly! Welcome to the greatest dev site and software on the interwebs! Scotland you say? Grew up not to far from you, Glasgow to be precise, know your city well. There are a few Scottish folk on here now but believe you may be the first lass! Hope you are finding your way around and enjoying some of the videos, tutorials and how-to's. Some folk dive right in without issue or help, others, like yours truly need baby steps at start before we leap into the apps stores. Let us all know if you need any pointers. Happy Saturday and welcome!

Molly! Welcome to buzztouch! As @MacApple mentioned, there's lots of people from your neck of the weeks in these forums. You're in great company! I think the app building is much closer than you think. The tutorials do a great job of showing you how to start from scratch, so that you understand the complexity of it all, but buzztouch takes care of most of that work. You just piece together the screens you want, provide the content for those screens, download and compile the code, and you're off and running! Let us know how we can help! Mark

Welcome Molly. Stay not far from you in Fife Agree with @GoNorthWest that building an app is indeed closer than you think. Stick with it and if you get any problems just post on forum and there will be lots of good folks waiting to help You already met three of them above. Good luck with your apps.
