How do I install eclipse?

I am seeking assistance in getting my 1st app launched. I am not understanding how to install eclipse and getting to the point of acquiring an apk file. I would appreciate some assistance on this. Thanks

Hi welcome to buzztouch. depending on your environment, there are two tutorials in the buzztouch how to section by GoNorthWest that will help you. --> Setting up your Android Development Environment (Windows) https://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/Setting_Up_Your_Android_Development_Environment_v1.3.pdf --> Setting up your Android Development Environment (Mac OSX) https://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/Setting_Up_Your_Android_Development_Environment_For_MacOSX_v1.0.pdf Good luck with your app!

Takes a while getting it sorted, I had problems too, but if you follow these guides to the letter, it's pretty straight forward (although does take some time!).

There are so many help docs on Buzztouch. If you are new start by reviewing them, watch the BT videos, and take the quizzes built by @David. This will get you running in no time! Magic

Unfortunately getting it installed is just your first challenge! It seems to be a world where the next challenge is just around the corner. I've only been involved with BT for a month but constantly coming up against things.

Me, too. I spent 2 days this week, trying to follow one outdated tutorial and YouTube video after another. Installed 4 times (un-installed 3 times!). Mac OSX. I finally went with Eclipse IDE for Java Developers Version: Juno Service Release 1 . I found the 2 steps to Install New Software - SDK and AVD - to be particularly 1990s. A version of Mac OSX Eclipse for making Android Apps should be configured from the get=go. This business of needing to edit lines of code in order to export is equally 1990s. Why should I need to manually edit debug=false!!!! If a window can give me a warning that I have debug=true, it can give me a button to click to change. My current obstacle is having a Google Maps API Key that isn't working with the AVD to run my App to see how well it (isn't) working.
