Surface + Nokia Windows 8 ($8 Dev account / Android+Convert)

Hey buzztouch members, I'm sure you have heard that Microsoft has released both Surface and Nokia as flagships for their Windows 8 OS release. Currently they are offering $8.00 (reg. $99) developer accounts. - Savings valid for 8 days only, so hurry. See here: http://dev.windowsphone.com/en-us/publish * Dev accounts are FREE for student, but you have to prove enrolment. If you are a student you will have to search around how to do that :). **Note: they will charge the full $99, but will credit the amount within 45 days (yes typical Microsoft weirdness). Here's a PDF explanation: http://cmsresources.windowsphone.com/devcenter/en-us/legal/8-for-8-Dev-Center-Registration-Offer.pdf Now looking at it right now it shouldn't be that difficult to convert your Android applications to the new platform. I haven't had time to try but looking at the documents it doesn't look that difficult. Let me know what you guys think? Couple of things to consider: 1) Windows 8 for desktops is a full blown version of Windows 2) Surface RT runs on a dumbed down version of Windows 8 (sorta like iPad) 3) Surface PRO runs the full blown Windows 8 version 4) Nokia runs WP8 The only thing I'm confused about maybe one of the members can help out, the development process if you were to make an app for Nokia, would that run on Surface RT? Anyways happy coding, and if I have time in the next week or so I'll try and convert an Android app and post the instructions, if someone beats me to it, even better :)

Just thought I'd share this resource. It's a video series on Windows 8 development for "absolute beginners." Not near as straightforward as using Buzztouch, but if you're interested I think its helpful: http://channel9.msdn.com/Series/Windows-Phone-8-Development-for-Absolute-Beginners @coderex did you ever have success converting an Android app? If so, do you have any suggestions or advice for that process?

@nmcmap no never ended up converting from android to windows. Had to create windows apps from scratch unfortunately. It was worth because there are not many apps on the store and people actually buy on windows platform thus far.
