iOS Developer wants my UDID, is it OK to give to him?

I'm working with a team of developers/designers from India I met through elance. I was going over how we should proceed with testing the app builds and mentioned Test Flight. The developer discouraged the use of Test Flight and said they could send the builds directly to my iphone if I provided him my UDID. I asked, what about my other beta testers? He told me to send him all of the UDIDs and he'd send them builds as well. I'm having doubts about this. Is this safe? I don't know these people personally and I think this could give them access to too much personal info. What do you think? And since this developer is frowning on Test Flight, what are some other suggestions for testing?

Hi. So you are not using BT to develop apps? Someone else is doing it for you? I suggest Googling the phrase 'should I give out my UDID' that'll cure what ails you. All the best and why not try doing it yourself on here. Will save you that headache.

to my knowledge using testflight you will still need to provide your UDID. Theres no simple way of getting ad hoc builds without providing a UDID

It's OK, they can't do much with your UDID except provision your device with Apple. Unless you think these guys are jailbreakers? You can download an app called YARG and that will basically retrieve your UDID and let you send it to someone via e-mail. I use TestFlight a lot. Love and Hate it. Testflight uses software to pull your UDID and send it to a developer. It's a 2 step process that is a pain. These developers have probably dealt with it and just want to do the provisioning directly without TestFlight. I do the same on occasion. Bottom line is you can't test until your UDID has been provisioned on the Apple portal.

You can't trust most online these days. (except for the gentlemen and ladies of buzztouch >_^). sending out information to strangers you've never met and they are in India? china is infamous for scams and such however India has been known to do the same, just not as much. I recommend you work with people you know or met in real life. Be safe friend.

The guys we're working with are legit. We found them through a reputable freelance company, elance. They've developed apparently before and a few of their own apparently in the appt store. We've started developing our app. They've worked on graphics, not yet worked on functionality, so we haven't needed to test yet. Does Beta family sound like a good tool? Will the developer see or get access to the udid? If they'll still see the udid, then it won't matter if we give it directly, right?

Sorry, autofill is terrible! Please replace "apparently" and "appt" with "app"- thanks
