My first app has been approved! And on the first time!

I'm finally live with my first app! Thank you David, Buzztouch, and the entire community for helping me out the past few months. It took 11 days in the review process, but they passed it without question. I now have another one ready to submit and another in the pipeline after that! You can see my app on iTunes at https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/fumc-bixby/id571411276?ls=1&mt=8 It's an app for my church. But the fun doesn't stop there. I have a website live at www.churchphoneapps.com for other churches to sign up for a similar app at just $20/month - which should allow small and mid-size churches to have an app now, something that was unfeasible before due to limited budgets and lack of programming skillsets. Once again, thank you Buzztouch for everything!

Okay - so I had this problem while testing the device, but could not reproduce it while the device was connected to my macbook (and thus couldn't get an error report out of XCode). I was hoping it was just my device, but I guess not. I wrote about this problem at: https://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=9E75641CBA15EA8702A8310 but nobody was able to help me and the thread got pushed into oblivion. The issue seems to be related to an internet call. If I'm on a fast internet connection, it loads fine. If I go airplane mode, it loads fine. But when I'm on a slower internet connection, it *sometimes* won't get past the splash screen - it will hang there for a bit and then crash. But while connected to XCode, it never crashes. If I get past the splash screen, the app runs great and has no problems. I've noticed that, when connected to XCode, the splash screen will wait a whie at 2 points that are similar. The first has the following debugger code: BT_viewUtilities: getTableViewForScreen with nickname: "ContactMenu" and itemId: ContactMenu1 and type: WB_screen_menuImage And the second has this output: BT_viewUtilities: getTableViewForScreen with nickname: "WorshipMenu" and itemId: WorshipMenu1 and type: WB_screen_menuImage The next code after the pause is: 2012-10-27 21:32:09.184 FUMCBixby2[86160:707] BT_rotatingNavController: pushViewController 2012-10-27 21:32:09.185 FUMCBixby2[86160:707] BT_rotatingNavController: pushViewController for screen: ContactMenu1 I don't really understand why this is happening, but any help would be greatly appreciated!

I should mention that if I go airplane, it loads super fast with no hang time at all.

Okay - I think I figured it out. I was loading some somewhat large images to be used as header images on the menu screens noted above from my website. Apparently they were causing timeout issues. I've put those local in the app now, so hopefully the issue is resolved. Of course, it means another waiting period for the Apple review process! :)

Congratulations on your first app! Quite a few church based apps showing up these days, which is super cool! I'm currently working on v2.0 of my Jesus Says app! And great job working out the bug. You may have to wait the same amount of time for the update to go into review, but it should sail through quickly given that it's something to correct a bug. Great job! Mark

Got a review in! You must be working on it on the fly, because it worked well for me. What did you use for the forms? Congratulations, Chris! P.S. I have some religious apps out there too. See http://iTunes.com/whitebuffalosolutions

Great - thanks Susan! I actually haven't made any changes for the bug yet. Well, I have, but they have to go through the Apple review process because I needed to include some image files in the app file itself. But, if you're on a fast connection it will work for you anyway. Thanks again! Chris

Hello Chris, Congrats and good luck with your business model. I can get your app to run if I load it in airplane mode and then turn the wifi back on. Lots of content for the user. A full service church in your pocket. Even a sense of community. The video plug in locks the app up if you don't get out of the video before it ends. I have not been able to get that plugin to work. Thought it was just me. Positive review coming later today! Good Luck. Mike

Thanks Mike. Not sure what is wrong with video. I'll have to look into that. Susan, I just realized I didn't answer your other question. That's what happens when a pastor tries to respond to a post on Sunday morning! Too many things going on at once. :). So, the forms are HTML forms I wrote myself, connected to php on my website.
