Map Help

I tried not to have to ask this question but it looks like I can't avoid it. I am using BT2.0 and I have a HTML.doc that has address's which will open up Google maps in another browser which works for me, but there is no "back" button in the browser which i do need. I can't seem to figure out how to add said "back" button. Is there a function for that or do I have to take a different approach? Thanks in advance.

Are you using this for android app? When you say opens in another browser, do you mean in native browser or custom url screen? Have you considered using buzztouch location map instead and pull info from external doc? Sorry for all the questions. Feel free to ask any questions as this forum is awesome and plenty great folks on here will be happy to offer assistance. Is getting late here and sleep calls. Sure you will get a response from others before i get back.

Hi @Badblueheeler, If you are opening up something in an app that is different from your app...like opening up an address in Google maps, where the address starts in your app, then there is no way to put a back button in the other app to return you to your app. At least none that I'm aware of. Once you leave an app for a new one, you have to then go back to the previous app to continue off. You could consider using a Multiple Location screen in your app, and put in the addresses that way. Such a screen would be native to your app, and would only open up a different app if you wanted to, say, provide driving directions. Does that make sense? Mark

If what I believe you dont leave your app then you will get the back button under: Document Behavior: Show Browser Back Button -> Yes, show the button

If I remember correctly I think a batchgeo map worked well within a custom url screen. Been a while since i tested it now. Perhaps @GoNorthWest or another may be able to confirm this. Anyway im off to catch some zzzzzzz's. Over and out

Thanks Folks, So from what is being said I can't get a back button from a browser that opened up because an address was clicked on my html page so I guess my next question is how do I provide a button for a map (native) on my html page or how do i provide a button some other way(menu?). I will have many pages that will need to link to a map with their address so I guess I am trying to find the best way to trigger a map with that address either with a (map) button or by clicking the address.

Hi, I think your current approach is just fine. Having an address in an HTML page will cause an external app (Google Maps) to launch. I've seen it done that way in tons of apps, so I think it's an accepted practice. Once you leave an app for any reason, there's really no easy way (or way period, that I'm aware of) to go back programmatically. Mark

Thanks Mark, I guess I just don't like leaving the app. When you said"You could consider using a Multiple Location screen in your app" were you speaking to the "location map" plug in? i have messed around with that a bit and i can see where i can use it but what i haven't figured out is, if i have a screen load with some content and an address on it, how do i point that address back to the location map, keeping in mind that there will be multiple screens with content and addresses to deal with. I hope I am making sense describing my navigation issues. Thanks Again

Howdy! If all you locations are in a general area, then you could use the Location Map plugin to indicate all those locations. When people tap on the pin, it could bring them to the HTML document that describes that location, or perhaps lead to driving directions (which would take them out of app). In an app I have, I use the tabbed layout, and have one tab that is the location map plugin. That makes it easy to get out of the map and back to other content. But, again, if you are providing driving directions, there really is no way to do that without leaving the app. I've yet to find an iOS app that does that. Does that help? Mark
