Got the app onto my iPhone but 'phone us' not working

Hi there - I am slowly bumbling along and now have my first app onto my iPhone having signed up for the Developer Programme. Everything seems to be working as on the simulator but the 'phone us' section still does not work when live on my phone. Is this an issue of it still being at the development stage or have I made an error somewhere? Thanks.

Hi @fratony, What exactly do you mean by "not working?" Does it not load at all? Does it not call the correct number? What sort of failure are you experiencing? One thing that's helpful is when you compile it for our phone, keep it attached to your Mac, and see what shows up in the debug console in Xcode when you try to launch that screen. As long as the phone is still attached, debug info gets written. Mark

Ok - when I press the menu item I get a blue pop up box with "~ error ~" - it never opens the next screen.

OK, this is where we'd need debug data from the debug console. It should say why the error popped up, and what's preventing the screen from loading. Do you have all the correct items configured for that screen in the control panel? Mark

Dupe posts everywhere - apologies, just refreshing the thread to read replies and it keeps re-posting. I think everything is configured correctly - I have the phone number to call and have it set to 'does not require a login'. I don't get any errors when I run the simulator but obviously the phone doesn't work on simulator.

Hi, So this shows that it's working on the simulator just fine. Now, if you connect your phone to your Mac, and instead of building for the simulator, build for a device (I'm assuming you know how to do that, since you have it on your phone), when it's built and running, if you tap on the phone, it'll show debug info for the phone in the console. You do have to keep it connected to make that work. Mark

Ok - just tried doing that. I have the app on the phone and the phone connected to the Mac with Xcode but when I activate the app on the phone nothing happens on Xcode (at least, not in the same place I got the info pasted above when I ran the simulator). All the other menu items work just as expected on the iPhone. Can you clarify exactly what I should go too on Xcode from the menu to see this?

So, you know how you hit the little triangle button in the upper left corner of Xcode to start the app running in the Simulator? Instead of doing that for the simulator, select a device instead from the target (same list as iPhone simulator, iPad simulator, etc), and run the app. That will cause it to build and launch on your phone, at which point you can do the taps and other interactions, and the debug info will show up. The key here is that you start running the app from Xcode..not the phone itself. Mark

Yep, that's what I was looking for. Unfortunately, I don't see an error there. Does anything of interest come after the last line you have pasted, where it launches the dialer? Also, what iOS version do you have running on your phone? I'm also wondering what would happen if you used a US type number like 888-888-8888? Just curious if it makes a difference. Mark

No - the last line I posted is where it just stops. I have iOS 6 on the iPhone. But... Putting a US number works! I just tried a UK number again but with the international prefix +44 but that goes straight back to the "error" message too. So... I wonder if anyone has managed to do this with a UK/non-US phone number? I have to leave now but will be back briefly in the morning UK time then away on other business for a couple of days. Would be very interested if anyone has any suggestions though. Thanks for all your help. Tony

Brilliant - that's cracked it - both 00441934427130 & +44-1934-427130 work for me but not the versions I had before with spaces in them (even with the international prefix). I really appreciate all your help with this - thanks!
