Map plugin - adding options for 'directions' and info on click

Hey, I'm literally just starting out on my Buzztouch/App journey so if this question is obvious/stupid please forgive me! I have put together a basic app with a directory of locations an a map displaying all the locations in the directory. What I would like is when a user clicks one of the points on the map they get a pop-up with an option either to link to the directory entry, or to get directions from their current location. I can see how to go get 'either/or' in Buzztouch, is there a way to configure the code to give me both? I appreciate this might be a broad question so answers like 'you need to change this xml file' to get me on the right track are welcome! If more information is required in order to provide a response, please feel free to ask. Thanks! Adam

...I REALLY hate bumping topics, but can anyone point me in the right direction on this? If it can't be done, that's fine, it just means I'll have to take my layout in a slightly different direction :) Adam

Hi @AdamDynamic, I'm not sure about the popup but you can do the driving directions. One thing on driving directions is on your simulator, most likely the tiles will not show up on your map in Eclipse. LA

Hi @LA Thanks for the reply. Indeed I don't get any tiles on my emulator, in fact I don't get any on my HTC when I test it there but that's a bug for another day :) I know I can get driving directions from the map plugin, I was hoping to have the driving directions 'and' a link to detail on the location. If I can't get a link to both on the pop-up I'll have to rethink the layout. Thanks again, Adam

Hi Adam, I don't believe you can do an either/or selection on map popups. I've never seen this in any app using maps, and I can't even think of how it would work, because the popup would have to be divided in such a way as to present two unique touch areas. Not saying it's totally impossible, but it must be pretty difficult or more people would have done it. And I use a lot of map-based apps! I think your best approach would either be to have a "details" page that then links to a map, where the pin then links to driving directions (because not everybody needs driving directions right away), or let the map pin link to a details page, which also has a link for driving directions. As for the map tiles, don't forget that you need to get your Google Maps API keys, and sign your app with your release keystore. Lots of people have had no luck getting map tiles to show up with the debug keystore. Post back if you have any other questions! Mark

(Duplicate post removed) Hi @GoNorthWest Thanks for the reply. I thought it might be 'difficult to do in Buzztouch', but if it's 'difficult to do, period' then I think I'll just rework my approach :) I'll play around with combining maps pages, if I have any more questions I'll come back to you helpful people! Thanks again, Adam

Hi Adam, No problem! Try giving Google or Stackoverflow.com a search on your question...if the answer isn't there, then you'd be invention something new, which is cool! Mark
