tap image to dial phone number

I have two buttons on a page. One button is a web address. No problem to link it to a website using the cutom HTML page, but I have a button with a phone number. When the user taps it I want it to bring up a phone number so the user can make a call. How can it be done?

What about this: Your button "Call" open another button plugin. On this next page you have only one button, let's call it call now. On the background of this button page you make a graphic for the background showing the phone number (maybe something that says, 34353567878, call now?). Is that what you mean?

I think the main question is "how do you link to a screen from within HTML?" If you can do that, then the CallUs plugin should be perfect for this scenario. But, to my knowledge, there isn't a good way of linking to a BT screen using HTML.

Actually I read something about opening an app page from a website on Buzztouchmod. There is a plugin that might be what you are looking for, I haven't read it in detail though. Here is the link: https://www.buzztouchmods.com/downloads.php?cat_id=1&download_id=40

@farcat: Of course, that requires being self-hosted - which may or may not be an option for the OP. I would be interested in hearing about opening a BT screen from within HTML if you happen to come across that discussion again.

@chris1, you are correct about Self-hosted, I just made the assumption. :) I will keep an eye open about this issue, it would be very handy indeed! Farcat

Here's another option. Check out Stanford University's mobile webpage (m.stanford.edu). If you click on the "contact & directory" link on the homepage, you're given 2 phone number buttons. Tapping on one (at least on my iPhone 4S on iOS5.1) brings up a dialogue asking if you want to all the number. Looking at the source code reveals it's a simple anchor link like such: <li><a href="tel:6507232300" rel="external">Operator (650) 723-2300</a></li> I haven't explored this enough to see if it requires jQuery Mobile to work properly, or if any html page with a href="tel:XXX" would work.

The <a href="tel:1800xxxxxx"> mentioned above will work for you. I currently use that method to allow someone to dial straight off my page.
