David Book and Sheri's Visit to Minnesota

Hi, buzztouch community! Wanted to send you all an update on David Book and Sheri's visit to Minnesota. I can't tell you what a great time we all had and how inspiring it was to discuss buzztouch with David in person. In addition to Sheri, @CrownSolutions and Shane Smith (my son, a computer science major) participated in discussions. I learned more in the last couple of days than I have learned in the past year. In person meetings make such a difference! On Tuesday morning, Sheri, @CrownSolutions, David, and I went to LiveFront, a Minneapolis company that makes apps. LiveFront allows developers to come and use their Android lab for one hour for free. (After the first hour, they charge $125 an hour.) They have eight different Android devices and all of the iOS devices. David showed us how to make corrections to our apps so that they would work better on Android. Tuesday evening, David presented to a group of about 20 mobile developers at the Mobile Twin Cities Meetup. David told them the story of buzztouch and showed them how it worked. This group usually multitasks with their laptops and devices during the presentation, but because David was so engaging, there was no multitasking at all. He really was able to "sell" the concept of buzztouch to this group. He spoke very highly of our community. Other than that, we all talked about family and about the future of buzztouch. The time flew by. David helped us with all of our projects. Sheri and @CrownSolutions have some very cool projects in the works, and it was also great to connect and share with them. If any of you are planning meetings, I will be coming to see you! I wouldn't want to miss an experience like this. P.S. One thing I wish I would have done differently was made sure I had a screen with a projector. Without a projector, we all were doing a lot of hovering around a laptop. So if you are planning a meeting, even with a small group, try to get a projector.

Thank you Susan for posting this! The buzztouch community knocks it out of the park with this ability to connect. I have yet to find another developer site that does this.....I am so impressed with all the passion behind all of us. I started on this journey of trying to understand apps to an emotional experience ...almost spiritual. I encourage everyone here to start up a meetup in their home town. You will notice how much more will be accomplished as a group than individually. I am glad I got up out of my chair ...away from the computer and took a risk to meet three strangers " geek " out. It's nice to communicate with people who "get you". And support your crazy ideas. These last few days made me be aware that it is time to start groups locally and to grow the community more. I am so honored to have been a able to learn about butlers and maids ...ramps...and cheese curds....most of all being connected to some awesome people who now I consider friends.

Sounds like an amazing time! I'm looking forward to the Arizona version in January...especially if we end up making it to Sedona. Can't think of a more beautiful place in the state to site inside and do some coding! ;-) Mark

I would love to meet David and some other BT peeps. I feel like I would learn so much from everyone. We need to have an east coast meet up..perhaps in Baltimore ;)

Great pics on the Women of Buzztouch Facebook page! Everyone looked like they were having a great time. I'm going to have to make a trip to meet everyone face to face one day, too! :-). I'll plan a Texas Meetup one day!

Thanks for sharing your experience meeting up with David and Sheri. Yes, one to one meeting is always more effectual and memorable than the one on online or via telephone. No any other online app making website owner would do to support and encourage the users like David does. We all have learned from him so much ans still a lot is on its way.

@GoNorthWest - Mark I'd like to join the Arizona meetup in January, esp in Sedona! :) I looked at the meetups, didn't see any more info on this. Anyway, I'm +1 Thanks!

Thanks for the wrap up. Doesn't suprise me to hear folks were transfixed during Davids lesson. Some people are just meant to teach and present ideas. David just has that IT factor when it comes to engaging people to learn. Beyond that just a fun guy too, so it's easy to see where the time flies. As much as you just want to talk code, there's other stuff to discuss.... Excited to hear his wrap up when he gets home, thaws out and has a chnace to check on the boat. Sedona in January sounds great. and warm.

It was so meaningful to meet people in person. I know that Jim, Sheri, David and I will be friends for life. What is so cool about buzztouch is not just the software and the capacity it gives us, but also the true friendships that develop in the community. I'm in for an in person meetup anywhere. Having said that, lets make an extra effort to involve our community all over the world in the online meet ups.
