iPhone5/ios 6 and buzztouch?

Hello BT gang, With the iPhone 5/IOS 6 release, I know I should do some changes with my BT apps. So here are my questions: 1. Do i need to do something with my BT installation in my own server? 2. Is it necessary to update to the latest version of xcode in order for the apps to work in IOS 6? 3. Is there anything else that should be done? Matt

Hi Matt, From what I saw the apps still do work but when you open the projects on Xcode it throws of errors and warnings. I guess it is necessary to update only if you plan to do further work on an app. Over the last few days I saw a lot of big names updating apps to accommodate IOS6/iphone 5. Also Iconnect now asks you na iphone5 size screen shot, which is a pain as not everybody owns an iphone5... Farid

When I submitted my app (was approved) I did not submit any iPhone 5 screen shots. This was a while back though, but at the time you did not need iPhone 5 to get the app approved.

It must be recent then, I submitted one last week and it wouldn't take it unless I had an iphone5 screen shot (which I made up on Photoshop...)

Weird that, because when I submitted my app, litterally three days ago, it didn't require an iPhone 5 Screenshot. All it required was a screenshot of the normal device, which I got off my iPod. To be honest, it was pretty lucky that it didn't ask me for an iPhone 5 Screenshot, because I don't have the new iPhone or the new iPod Touch (and I don't plan to)!

That is weird indeed. Time will tell I guess.

I think its to do with your binary submission. E.g. If you submit an iPad only app you will only require iPad Screenshots. In my case I submitted for iPhone and iPad so I had to attach both. Maybe check your binary to see if you submitted for iPhone 5/iPhone/iPad. Not sure if these two (iPhone and iPhone 5) are distinct but that may be the reason, as on App store you can search for iPhone 5 specific apps. Let me know how you get on!

@annandale apps - I agree, iPhone 5 is like a sun roof in a car. Its nice to have but not something you would pay the extra for. I guess over time however it will be merged in so every damn car will have a sun roof.

thanks for all the response guys! i agree, i think it is not required to submit an iphone 5 screenshot. i've had apps that are accepted in the app store without it. are you all using xcode 4.5 now? did you re-download the files from buzztouch ? or did you recompile only?

I am using xcode 4.5 and I re-downloaded the files. I was moving an app from buzztouch to self hosted so I started from scratch. I will submit a new app in the next couple of days so I will see if they request the screen shots for iphone5 again.

I found this out at Apple Developer forums (nowhere near as good as here), but if you're using Xcode 4.4.1 or earlier, your Binary will not be sized correctly for the iPhone 5, so your screenshot is not needed. But if you are using Xcode 4.5 or 4.5.1, then you will need an iPhone 5 Screenshot. The only reason why I didn't have to, was because I was just updating my v1.5 app, which will not take the iPhone 5's new screen size. Remember, you can get the new screenshots from the iOS Simulator.

I forgot that you could choose your iphone simulator version, thanks. I was starting to doubt myself there...thanks for confirming my sanity!
