Experiences with Cross Compiling Android to iOS and/or PhoneGap Build

Has anyone had any experience with the following Android to iPhone program: (http://www.xmlvm.org/android/) Sounds like it is capable of cross-compiling android apps into iPhone versions. There is a video presentation in which they claim it is within the legal framework of the Apple SDK. I also noticed that PhoneGap Build offers a cloud based service which allows one to upload HTML5, CSS, and Javascript assets. The service compiles outputs for mutliple platforms. (https://build.phonegap.com/) I do not own a mac and am interested in potential options that may be available and do not involve having to purchase another computer. Any thoughts or is purchasing a mac the only way to go.

Hi @mlewis7175, Welcome to buzztouch! Subscribing to this because I don't know the answer, but I'm interested! It would be interesting to see how this works given that Apple requires provisioning and signing certificates, and those have to be used with Xcode to sign your app. I could believe that these services take Java code and spit out Objective C code, which is then used by Xcode to compile apps, but buzztouch does the exact same thing! You design in buzztouch, and can download both Java and Objective C. Anyway...interested to see the verdict! Mark

IMO it's a big mistake to try and develop a single app that works for both platforms. 2 totally different animals here. You can try to stick them in the same cage but it won't last. No way that cross compiler can account for all the differences between an Apple class like say the UIGesturerecognizer and whatever the Android equivelnt might be. I can see this maybe generating a few snippets of cross platform code, but a whole APP? None of the 'stories' links work either, so they can't even show a sample of this really working. Great idea/concept but BT is one of the best tools you'll find to create a quasi cross platform app using JSON. JSON config data used properly can feed some data to a single app, but not a whole design.
