Advertising Question... need some advice

Hi All, So I currently have made an app for Australians who travel (https://itunes.apple.com/app/aus-visa/id556424470?mt=8). I am planning on creating another travel app for free which would target Australians. I am considering two options and would like your opinions and thoughts please :) 1. Use an add within my new free app that somehow (yet to figure this out and all ideas greatly appreciated!) when clicked links to my app on app store. 2. Use iAds within the app. Currently, I think number one would be a better option, E.g if I am to sell only one app off every 200 impressions (being $0.63 or whatever it is) that would be better value than say the revenue from 200 impressions off iAd? Not sure on this and would love some input and thoughts! Cheers, Ben.

Looking at this from a user/consumer point of view, I find it less annoying when the ads are actually targeted or related to whatever I'm doing (in this case reading travel information). For an app of this type (as opposed to just a game or something), it might be more beneficial to have iAds instead of just one promoting your own app. I'm just thinking from a users point of view though rather than a financial point of view (although sometimes the two can be the same). Hope that helps a little.

Thanks for the info! I think I will try iAds and see how it goes :) I think I also might just put a section on my other app in the info part! Thanks for the help :)

I think most of the users like to download games irrespective of which app they might be using. In this case i would suggest you to include either revmob or chartboost in your app. You can either show banner ads, fullscreen ads and also include more free apps screen in your app for both of them. Further in case of chartboost you can add a screen which directs to your apps on app store. Consider these options and have a look at them as they have more ecpm rate than iads. Also you will find lot of tutorials on integrating both of those ad services in ios and android here on the forum.

Hey Sandeep, Thanks for that info! I think I will go with using RevMob banner ads and also upon each page at the bottom just put a note linking my other app through an app store button. I have implemented this on one HTML page to see how it looks and basically the user is getting the info first before they see my link so I feel for a free app they shouldn't be complaining. Thanks again!
