new skins for your AVD + Samsung Developer Remote Testing Lab!

Testing out my Android apps and wanted to emulate some of the newer phones. I came across a few nice resources to download skins for the emulator. I'm learning that "Skins" are nicer than creating plain AVD's because the skins have the phone shell. That means you get the proper hardware buttons that function like the phone does. Adding skins to your Eclipse "IDE" turns out to be easier than I thought too. You just have to obtain the skin and then copy it into your /androind-sdk/platforms/android-8/skins (you may have other platforms besides android-8, but this is the API level BT is built against, so copy them into that folder) If you visit this site at Samsung- http://innovator.samsungmobile.com/platform.main.do?platformId=1&indexType=1&indexDirection=1&sortType=0&cateId=1&codeType=C512&tabNum=1&searchText=&curPage=1&listLines=30 you can grab the Galaxy S and SII (and a few others) No luck finding the Samsung Galaxy SIII skin yet - seems like it would be on the Samsung site. But I did come across this area of their site- http://rtl.innovator.samsungmobile.com/deviceList.action Samsung Remote Testing Lab! That allows you to test your apps on real devices remotely. You can reserve testing time on a SIII and lots of new devices like the Galaxy Note. You can install your app on it, but I think the lack of internet connection on the device is an issue with the BTconfig.txt. Otherwise seems to work pretty well.

Good stuff! I really did not knew about using the skins in the emulators. I am going to try this right now. And thanks a lot for sharing.
