My xcode seems to only have an iphone 4 on the simultator. It can be found on the Mac App Store and can run on Lion or Mountain Lion. (if you're Snow Leopard, then you're stuffed). If you aren't, I don't think you'll be able to get the iPhone 5 simulator. If you are using the latest version, it's fairly easy. Just select Hardware, then Device, and then you'll find iPhone 4 inch Retina listed there Comments So first, are you using the latest version of Xcode: Version 4.5.1. It worked just as you described. I googled it and just found workarounds that messed with Xcode, and it didn't feel right. So easy. Cheers to that.
