using Dropbox to store and access audio files

It seems that my problem with xCode being unable to download files, and telling me to check my internet connection, is something to do with the audio files. I have these in my public Dropbox folder, as suggested by someone else on this forum, with the url's in the screen/actions. Is there another way? Is there something else I need to do? Perhaps I'm placing the url's in the wrong place? Or do I need to self host in order to have audio files in my app?

Hi @Flloyd, Have you verified that you can access the file, using the same link, via Safari in the Simulator? If not, then the problem isn't with buzztouch, but with the simulator and/or your internet connection. Check the debug Console panel in Xcode to see exactly what it's complaining about when it says it's unable to download files. There far more debug info there. The method you're using should work, but verify the media is accessible via alternate means, and we can go from there. Mark

Thanks Mark. I can access the file via my own browser. The simulator does not show any tiles except the ones I have created in Buzztouch. So, no Safari there. I've just tried creating another screen/action, with a link to an audio file in dropbox. When I refresh the simulator I get the following Error: "There was a problem parsing some configuration data. Please make sure that it is well-formed." I'll take another look at the "Learning Path" video on xCode, and debugging. But really, I am not confident I can handle that. I suspect the xCode and or Simulator are at fault. I would re-install them, but Apple developer website won't let me in, keeps sending me to a text-based ID sign in page which has my details, but won't let me 'continue'. Any thoughts?

Very odd. There should be a Safari icon on the home screen of the simulator. There is in mine. If you would like, you could send me the zip file you downloaded from buzztouch, and I could run it through my Xcode to help debug. At least we'd then narrow it down to either a buzztouch or Xcode issue. I'll keep your code in the strictest confidence. You can send it to MrkFleming at gmail dot com. Mark

Well, I've just had another go and making sure all the screens point to the right docs, or url's, and downloaded the source code again. Same message. So I will gratefully accept your kind offer, and email the zip file. Thank you so much!

Got it...thanks! A quick check of the config file before I head to bed doesn't show anything immediately, and I can access the public URL. Are all the folders you downloaded from buzztouch in your Xcode project? In particular, did the BT_Plugins folder make it into your Xcode project? You can just drag and drop from Finder into Xcode if it's not. Mark

Yep, did it. Do I need to do that for all the folders that aren't automatically opened in xCode? eg Documents, Sound, etc? I did that for a previous version, having copied the docs and sound files into the folders, but it didn't make any difference.

Hi Flloyd, I just sent you an email, with a link to a video I made describing what I saw in your control panel. Let me know what you think! Mark
