AT53 Video Player Plugin

Had a conversation with David(BT) about the Android code for the AV53 Plugin. The issue I currently have is the video displays very small in both Landscape and Portrait mode. See the links below. This is running on a Samsung Galaxy S2 with 4.1.1 Jelly Bean Rom. Portrait ---> <a href="http://db.tt/SlrESao6" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://db.tt/SlrESao6</a> Landscape ----> <a href="http://db.tt/sYpgJLPn" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://db.tt/sYpgJLPn</a> I verified that I can play full screen video via other apps (like Slingbox) and also straight through the Video players I have installed by selecting a file... Logs are below. Not sure if it will help.... 10-05 08:58:01.926: W/ZZ(17839): BT_activity_root:onCreate 10-05 08:58:01.941: W/ZZ(17839): BT_device:updateDeviceConnectionType: ConnectionType: WIFI 10-05 08:58:01.941: W/ZZ(17839): BT_device:updateDeviceSize This device has a screen size of: 480 (width) x 800 (height). 10-05 08:58:01.941: W/ZZ(17839): BT_device:updateDeviceSize This application considers this to be a "small device" 10-05 08:58:01.941: W/ZZ(17839): BT_device:updateDeviceSize This device is in "portrait" orientation. ######### EDIT. Removed long console output.

See the plugin's README, it's been updated. Our conversation last night in the Google Hangout was super fun and cool to see folks from all over the darned place! Funny how half of us had dogs barking, jumping in our laps, or begging us for dinner! LOL. Grab the latest version of the video player, or re-download if app is on buzztouch.com...bet it works :-)

I just tested it. Looks good in Landscpe mode... In Portrait mode the size is still the same. But instead of being at the top of the screen the image is not at the botton 1/4 of the screen.... You mentioned that v1.1: Fixed bug in Android Landscape mode where video would not show full screen. ***** Works great here ******* This fix does not prevent Android from controlling the video scale in Portrait mode, some devices will scale the video proportionatly in Portrait mode automatically, some will show the video full screen in Portrait mode, it depends on the device. ****** I get no scaling at all in portrait mode ***** See image below http://db.tt/bdhgA90p

Yup, makes sense. I think it would look better at the top of the screen...but...not sure we can adjust this? Maybe, not sure. The layout . xml file for this plugin is using a layout_height:fill_parent value to it's logical that it would be full in portrait and landscape. But, it's looking like the built in Video View in Android does some automagical scaling to the video in portrait to maintain the aspect ratio. I don't like this but it does seem to be the case. You could: a) Try to use a video with a different size (dimensions) to see how Android changes or doesn't change the layout in Portrait. b) Force the screen to always load in Landscape, regardless. This is easy. To do this, find the activity in the AndroidManifest.xml file and change this... android:configChanges="keyboardHidden|orientation" to android:screenOrientation="landscape" More info here too: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2068242/does-android-support-scaling-video I can continue looking into this if needed but I think it's working the way it's designed.
