where to place images in xcode

Hi all i tried searching for this info and i am sure it is here somewhere but alas i can't find it. My question is this; When i download my app into xcode and onto the simulator my icon buttons show as grey question mark, now i know that i have to copy the images locally into xcode and indeed the file structure of the app but where, this bit is not clear can anyone put me out of my misery? thanks as always in advance.

Not really although i appreciate your help. The message posted there and others i have seen are too ambiguous, what i am looking for is to know specifically where to place the images i intend using for button icons?

Throw them in /BT_Images/ then reference them in the control panel. So for example: throw a image say.. water_background.png in xcode in BT_Images, then in the control panel, enter "water_background.png". If all goes well, it should be able to grab the image from the project in both the simulator and device. Try it, get back to us? Cheers, David https://buzztouchmods.com

Hi Uraken, All images go to the same folder /BT_Images/, whether they are used for icons, as headers, within a html document or anywhere else. MrDavid's link will help you, it is for Documents but the same applies to images. Hope it helps, Farcat

WHen you are on Xcode, go to the the menu at the top, click on "Product", then "Clean". It will sort of refresh the app and include your pictures. If you are running the simulator stop it and run it again. Et voila!

Hello! I have just joined buzztouch and am very happy to have discovered this great site! This is my first posting in the Forum... I am also having a problem adding images to an X-Code Project. I have read the pdf that MrDavid posted: http://www.buzztouch.com/resources/Adding_Files_To_A_Project_v1.0.pdf but still don't seem to be able to get the image to show up in the simulator. This is what I'm doing... I would like to add an image to a Splash screen, so I go to the Splash Screen Control Panel and choose to insert the image name there. I have already uploaded the image to the files storage area, and I select that image in the files storage area. I then download the zip Source Code file and open it in the Finder. In the downloaded BT_Images folder I don't see my image…but I still drag the BT_Plugins folder and the BT_Images folder to the X-Code Project folder. So, as there were no images downloaded in the Source Code zip file I then choose to add my original image to the X-Code BT_Images folder. I am thinking that the code has internal references in it because I added the image name in the Splash Control Panel and I have added the image right into X-code BT_Images folder. But, I must be doing something wrong. One further question is: When I select the image from the files storage area and add it to the Splash Control panel should that image be downloaded as part of the Source Code zip file package? Or, will I always have to manually add the image to the BT_Images folder in the X-Code Project? Any help would be appreciated. Chris.

Hi Chris, Welcome to Buzztouch! Make sure that you read the pdf instruction that comes with the source code, it will answer a lot of your questions. In a nutshell: - download the source code. - add the folders on Xcode as per instructions - upload your image to the file storage area on your buzztouch control panel. - point to the image you want on your splash screeen. - drag manually the image from Finder to the Bt_image file on Xcode. - close the simulator if you are running it, open it again. ET voila! Hope it helps, Farcat

Hi Farcat! Thank you very much for your info... I will try it like you suggest. I think my problem was not restarting the simulator. Best wishes, Chris.
