Contacting Plugin Developers

What would be the best way to address issues that we have with plugins we purchase here at BT? 1> Contact the developer via message ? 2> Post a question in the general forums ? 3> Go t a specific Forum Category to post ? I happen to have an issue with a plugin not working at all in Android... I already tried option 1 above just last night. Thanks

Did you post a message on the discussion thread for the plugin? If it was just last night try giving them 24hrs. I assume the plugin is listed as iOS and Android, correct?

Hi gbakakos, I think the way you handled is the right way. You could also try to explain your problem in this forum. Maybe other users are able to help. Remember that not all developers are fulltime developers and they also have other obligations ( work, family, holidays etc). It may, because of this, that not everyone has the ability to respond within 24 hrs. Be patient, I think the developer you are refering to will respond later. Best regards, Danny Ps sorry didn't see you already posted on the forum

The only problem with #1, assuming you're going in through the plugin chat, is that we don't get notified when somebody posts to those private forums. There have been a few times it's taken me a couple days to respond because it's not part of my workflow yet to check! You could contact them via the standard PM function. Everybody who develops a plugin should have that enabled. Last resort, and perfectly acceptable in my book, is to post to the forum. Mark

For sure we need some improvements to the "discussions" area for each plugin. Like @GoNorthWest mentioned (so did @PSMDanny and a few others) the developers are not being notified when somebody posts in the discussions list for a particular plugin. We need to get this fixed. There isn't a problem posting to the regular forum with any questions anyway. It could be that we toss' the original idea of "discussions" for each plugin anyway...seems confusing! Maybe a forum thread for each plugin in already existing "plugins" forum. Duh.

I rarely check my PM's, just not in the habit yet! I've been browsing my plugin forums.. not much. I figure plugin developers should start making threads this way: <a href="https://www.buzztouch.com/plugins/discussions.php?pid=DED9871D84E57D757DC2828" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">https://www.buzztouch.com/plugins/discussions.php?pid=DED9871D84E57D757DC2828</a> That way if someone posts there, you WILL get a email. I'm about to duplicate those on my other plugin forums. I will also update my profile with my email that I check every day. Good luck with the developer, posting here also helps like people have said, we might be able to help with it. Cheers, David http://buzztouchmods.com

I'm a fan of the Plugin "Discussion" idea. Email and PM make it "conversation" where a post to a forum makes it a "discussion". More people can help and see the posts. Maybe a question has already been answered and you'll see it in the thread? Much like how this forum works now.... I don't like the idea of having to hunt for the 'discussion area' I'd prefer a PLUG-IN Category right off the main forum and and list each one. Then questions/answers and 'hacks' can be posted (I've hacked up some of the plug-ins I've purchased already) I also think there there needs to be some level of expectation for support of these things. ALL of these plugins are CO-DEVELOPED. We submit to BT and they add/change them. This is great, except that, and esp in this case - It's not original code the developer wrote. I wrote NONE of that Android code which makes it hard to support it. Watching this process play out has been a great learning experience. Support was and still is my biggest concern. Some of the plug-ins I want to put out there, I just don't see myself being able to support. So many factors and so little time......

" Maybe a forum thread for each plugin in already existing "plugins" forum. Duh." Yes! Don't make people hunt for it. Make it easy to find and where you'd expect to look - the PLUGIN category. I have gotten notice when PM's are sent, that system works OK.

@atrain good comments and ideas, for sure discussion is #1. We would need to be careful about posting hacks, some people might post the full source code and have people not purchase? I know I've messed with Marks notepad plugin a ton already ;p But haven't released for obvious reasons. I think after david tweets the plugin forums a bit, it's going to be much easier to support our plugins. Through I like your idea of main plugin forums, but BT does not have sub forums, so they would not only need to create new forums, but code sub forums. Exciting development... it's only time before everything is perfect! Cheers! David http://buzztouchmods.com

p.s. maybe a more sure fire way to contact david/stephen via private forums, I have something that needs to be updated urgently as reports come in, but not sure if my thread replies are seen/bumped up in private forums. But that's more about plugin dev to bt communication rather than bt to plugin dev communication. Cheers, David http://buzztouchmods.com

Im going to post it in the Plugin discussion for AT53 Video Player. I understand that Atrain wrote the IOS version and David(BT) added the Android usability. Those interested can look at that discussion group. I will post the issues and a dump of the logs.... Thanks all...

In the AT53 VideoPlayer instructions it states ... You must import the MediaPlayer Framework into your project for this plugin to work. Does this apply to Android also? Or is that an IOS only requirment.... ??

good news. sounds like the equivilent of a reboot, which always seem to magically fix everything! so it works on android devices running jellybean 4.1.1? that's great to know! hope the plu-in comes in handy and helps you build a million dollar app! i'm still itching to play with the android side of it more myself...
