What do I need?

Hi Guys, I'm moving towards the point where I'm going to be submitting my app and pending approval, I need some advice on guidance on how to manage it. This is my first app and I'm hoping to build a business around its function. I haven't got any technical knowledge of servers or content management systems or anything like that so this is where I would appreciate some help. What do you need to host an application and handle consistent downloads and traffic? My app would theoretically be updated on a daily basis with new content, is there anything I would need to get or do to help this process along also? Thanks guys and I appreciate any help. Sean

Hey there! First off, wanted to say congrats on almost releasing your first app. Secondly, which version of Buzztouch are you using? You don't need a server or anything to "host the application" if you are using buzztouch's control panel. And someone correct me if I'm wrong but apple highly frowns upon changing the content of your app locally without submitting an updated binary to their store. I might have misunderstood what you meant by updating the content on a daily basis unless you have an RSS feed or custom URL being pulled from a website. What type of app is this for- can you explain it a little bit, as for as building a business around this particular app or building apps for a business. There isn't anything you need to purchase besides an apple/google developers license to maintain the app. If you need help on submitting the app to the app store, let me know and I'll be more than happy to walk ya through it.

Agree with PikPocket, can you give us a wee bit more info? I'm assuming then that this is a 1.5 App that is going to be online? Pulling in news etc? As above, congratulations on getting close to the submit stage.

Thanks for the responses. Essentially I'm at the point where my app screens and functions are almost finished. The app aims to show the prices of drinks and promotions around a popular location. So the content that I would be updating is drinks prices and offers. My initial plan is to edit a pre set menu design on photoshop and upload the PDF to the relevant venues screen. I'm building this concept with no money so I'm doing what I can with what I know at he moment. I wouldn't be editing 'code' or anything it would just be he PDF linked to a screen. Please constructively criticise my plan if you can see a major flaw, as I say this is my first run out so I'm quite naive to the process! Thanks again.

Hi again. Apple (assuming you plan on submitting to them as well as Android) tend not to approve apps that are not user interactive or provide something other than just links to web sites or PDFs. Play - You'll be OK. You'll have to add more native features on iOS to get into the garden.

It is user interactive, it's has the option to give feedback etc. Just so I understand, as long as I have an apple dev license and its approved by the relevant OS's then the functioning and availability of the live app? Thanks

Won't be affected by being hosted on buzztouch rather than an independent server* Also if I was to input a login function screen what would I need to collate the login data? So how many people are logging in and when? Sorry I'm typing this on my phone on my way to work so I'm a bit rushed! :)
