Map Activity Android Eclipse

When I try to run the Locate Map plugin on my device (app loaded) the map displays the marker pins that I have set, but the actual map (terrain) does not load. I see a grid. I decided to look at log cat in eclipse and I see the following error: Map Activity Couldn't get connection to factory client. Has anyone encountered this?

Hi @Mad Padge, Welcome to buzztouch! In order for maps to work on Android, you need a Google Maps API key, which you get by using your debug.keystore and/or release.keystore. Have you checked out this doc yet? It has tons of information on getting Android to work: http://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/buzztouch_For_Android-A_Users_Guide.pdf Also, here's a video on the Keytool for Eclipse that can be used to get the MD5 fingerprints, and create your release keystore: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IaXE2FUENFI Give these a look, and write back if you still have issues! In order to test whether the map screen is working perfectly, you have to put the map release key in the strings folder. Further you have to set the debuggable mode to false in the android manifest file. Also you will have to export the signed packaged binary file and then install the same on your android device and test it. Then and only then you will see the map terrain images on your device. For more info and detailed process check the following link: http://myskylla.wordpress.com/2012/04/18/buzztouch-google-maps/

I have the MD5(not SHA1) for both release and debug, I have saved both docs and added the keys to the strings.xml file in eclipse. When I run the app, I still have a blank map? There must be something else I am missing?

Here's where it gets crazy. You need to sign the app with your release keystore, create an apk, and load that into either your device or emulator (preferably a device). It "should" work then. Android is a pain. Mark

Is this Eclipse giving you this error? Are you sure you have the right keystore alias and password?
