Impossible to use an mp3 audio file in my app, any alternatives?

Greetings to all! I'm building an app (V.2.0 BT) that incorporates an mp3 audio file (less than 1mb) but, as I found out, this is impossible unless you have your own website and can point to it. This is the message I get when I try to upload the file: "Control panels hosted at buzztouch.com do not allow Audio, Video, or PHP Script uploads. "Point" to these types of files on your website from a screens advanced properties or host your own control panel." Does anyone know of any alternatives? Can I create an HTML5 page with an embedded audio file, i.e. could that be a solution? Thanks in advance!

Impossible you say?! Try dropbox.com, use that to upload your file and link it up :-) Cheers, David buzztouchmods.com

Hi David, One last thing and I'll let you enjoy the rest of your Sunday. I've done the Dropbox thing and it works. There's only one problem, when I enter the screen that contains the audio file I'm asked to login into my newly created dropbox account (at least in Xcode's iPhone simulator). This would be a serious inconvenience for any potential users. No doubt I've done something wrong, but I can't figure out what. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers! P

Make sure the audio file you want to use is in ypour PUBLIC folder, then right click on that audio file and copy the URL - use that URL in buzztouch :) Cheers, David buzztouchmods.com

Hehehe, I feel bad about disturbing you on a Sunday...Anyway, it worked. However, it works only when the screen it set to "Show launch in native app" and Safari takes care of the rest. Otherwise, the screen appears full of code and is unusable. I'm still thinking of the HTML5 as a possibility...what do you think?

Petrus, I still think you might not have it 100%, but it's hard to see frm over here. Have you ever used Team Viewer? We can do a session real fast? p.s. my weekends are usually spent on buzztouch anyways lol, no problem! Cheers, David buzztouchmods.com

Download Team Viewer online (google!) and then open the program. When the program opens, your going to see a ID and PASS - send those to me in a private message (click message on my profile:) https://www.buzztouch.com/MrDavid Let's get this fixed! David buzztouchmods.com

Yes, David, it did work. I more or less saw what you did so I'll keep that in mind for future projects. Many thanks and greetings from Spain.

I'm probably missing something about this concept of putting audio on a server, rather than adding it to Xcode and compiling. If it's on a website/server, does the app download it and store it when the app is first installed? Else, does the user need to be online to play the file?

I'm guessing @Petrus that you are not self hosting, because I can upload mp3 to my control panel. If you put it on a dropbox, you will need internet access to play it, at least for the first time. I am not sure if BT apps will cache the mp3 afterwards so that it can play without the internet after the first load, that might be a factor. @amysus, you have a good point, you can certainly add the audio file to the buzztouch project in xcode, it works just fine from there, it is probably the best option if you do not need to update it after the app is released.

@HelperDev- How about using the new plugin cp streamer plugin instead? I have not used this plugin myself but i know one of the developer who has used it in his app. You can find more about his app and its link on google play at this post- http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=799E7C25D2375388C7AD59D
