Creating new app based on an existing app

Hi, I wonder whether it is possible to create a new app based on an existing app without having to create everything again from scratch. The two apps have different contents but they should have the same layout. For example, App 1: core maths 1 and app 2: core maths 2? Thanks very much, Samira

Yes with buzztouch it is possible. But for that you will have to have sufficient knowledge about json. Changing the contents of json data in the BT_Config file will allow you to have a different app either with same or with totally different contents.

If you mean being able to copy it over then no not yet in any automated fashion. In BT2.0 I recall seeing a post that explained how to copy the files and DB over to make a backup and then use that as a basis for a second copy....

Hello Samira! I think I found your app on itunes: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/a-level-maths-core-1/id513752281?mt=8 The app looks great and it looks like you made it with Buzztouch? Your link on your profile doesn't go to it...had to google it. I love the idea of the app and thank you so much for supporting education! I want to make sure I have an understanding on what you are asking. Are you talking about BT1.5 into BT2.0? or Self Hosted server? I have a heavy content app CNA Ready (aka BE A CNA) and I switched from BT1.5 to BT Self Hosted and I actually had to knuckle down and do the heavy work. It took me about 4 days but again the content was extremely heavy. However, I am new to coding. I have heard some are able to do this but it takes coding skills. Just realize it can be done. A big job, but after I was done I learn a lot more about the code and felt very accomplished that I did it and on my own server! Good to see a fellow Buzztouch lady on here! I want to invite everyone to our buzztouch google hangout group coming up on October 4 @ 7pm. Yes, it says "Woman of Buzztouch" but it's open to everyone...keep in mind the topics we will discuss are girly so if your not offended by that come on over! https://plus.google.com/u/0/events/cm0u7qiurqu9f7vj2cfq4f1t83c -Hope this helps Sheri

Thanks everyone for the advice :-). Thanks very much Sheri for the compliment about my first app (A Level Maths Core 1). Yes, I created it using Buzztouch. My old app was made using Buzztouch 1.5 but this new one (A Level Maths Core 2) will be made using Buzztouch 2.0 not on self hosted server (although I am hoping I will start using this as soon as I learn more about it). Congratulations for switching to BT self hosted! It sounds like a lot of work! I was planning to make the two apps similar in terms of design and I thought there is an easy way to do so. I think I will just start over (not that time consuming) especially that I have the actually contents already written. I would love to join the Woman of Buzztouch hangout group, it sounds like a great idea :-). Time difference between the UK and the US might make attending the meetings slightly tricky but I will try :-). Thanks again :-) Best wishes, Samira
