The scope of my coding and developing skills are about as close to zero as it gets. I had an idea for an app and stumbled onto this site. My app idea is simply to have a database of quotes that is able to send a push notification of a random (or specific) quote at the specified time and day the user desires. For example: I wake up at eight in the morning to an inspirational quote. It would be similar to other quote apps (sorted by author, favorites, etc) as well. Is this something that can be done with the free account or do I need to upgrade? Looks like the plugins are limited in the basic account. Also, if anyone with patience is interested in mentoring a new guy with this site, I would welcome that help too.

Hi @Cory, Welcome to buzztouch! This forum is literally chock full of people with tons of patience who are willing to help guide you through app creation! Just post your well thought out questions, and you'll get super quick responses! Trying things out ahead of time is always appreciated. For your app, do you intend the database to be online somewhere, or in the phone itself? If online, all you would really need is the HTML Doc plugin, and with some fancy Javascript and/or PHP, you could query the database for a new quote each day. Basically, it shouldn't be too hard to do what you want to do I think. Not sure which plugins are restricted for the free site...I can check into that. Again, welcome! Mark

Thanks Mark. I intended the database to be in the app/phone itself. I don't have any space online, and I'm a fan of apps that work without needing to be connected to the internet. Then again, maybe putting it online is easier? Would I need a website for that?
