Fantasy Football Pro approved

My first new app in a while was approved with no issues - one of the awesome cases of going from "in review" to "processing for app store" in 15 minutes. It's a 1.5 app with rss feeds, image galleries, videos, and a quiz. I also included a Socialize action bar in most screens LINK http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/fantasy-football-pro/id561325800?ls=1&mt=8

Very nice, love the video screens. Is that just the RSS feed with the Socialize toolbar added? Looks very clean. Love the spotlight picture of FORTE too in the app screenshots. Go BEARS!

Thanks - the "Pro Tips" option actually leads to a list menu with a selection of rss and webview screens to pick from - I made sure they all linked to mobile-optimized websites. I have been rejected in the past for having rss feeds that led to full size web pages that needed to be pinched and dragged around.

Ha, thanks man - I can tell you exactly what's this app is made up of 1. Buzztouch 1.5 (no longer available after October 1st, but 2.0 is better anyway!) 2. Socialize SDK - http://www.getsocialize.com 3. RevMob SDK - https://www.revmob.com 4. Appirater - https://github.com/arashpayan/appirater You can make an app like this no problem! I have checked out EVERY "quick app solution" website on the planet and Buzztouch is the only way to go. If you have any questions about anything, feel free to send me a message

Hey Absentia! Nice stuff first of all. Had one question. Do you think its better to do free apps with advertising rather than paid apps? Cheers, Ben

Free apps definitely. With all the free apps these days it's almost impossible to get people to part with 99 cents unless you're app is completely original or mind-blowingly awesome

Yeh. I'm new to the market so I listed at 0.99 cents. Might go to free at some point or probably create a new app for free. I just wonder how many downloads/users do you need to actually make a decent amount on your ads. Obviously people click them, as with your success, but I know for sure I never click adds. Do you think its targeting the right audience or generating a massive user base? What do you find is the key to generating revenue through adds? E.g. marketing, a niche app etc etc. Sorry if this question is vague but i'm just wondering where to get started. I love travel. My dream job would be developing apps whilst traveling off the revenue.

Generating a massive user base is definitely a sure-fire way to get clicks. I use RevMob for my ads - they pay around $1-$3 for every install generated by your app. So even if hardly anybody clicks the ads, those few clicks do pay really well I would say the key for generating revenue is the opposite of a niche app - go by what's already popular. Figure out where the money is flowing and get in front of it, as they say.

Awesome! Might possibly (most likely) turn my app into a free one in the future depending on how sales go! If you get a chance could you check out my app, to see if you think its best suited to a paid app or free app? (not asking for a download, only useful for aussies haha, just a quick browse over the info page) http://itunes.apple.com/app/aus-visa/id556424470?mt=8 Once again, thanks for the help! Can I confirm, is the add revenue pay by click? or does the user have to be on the page for a certain time? or is it per 1000 views etc? Really curious on this topic! - sorry for the continuous questions!

It's hard to say - the cool thing about RevMob is that you can pause the ads from your account control panel. So you can experiment...make the app free for a couple days and see how it does - if it doesn't work out just pause the ads and put it back at 99 cents. I can definitely say that every time I've switched an app from paid to free w/RevMob ads, income has gone up. And going from paid to free can potentially mean a massive increase in downloads. In the case of my One Direction app - it was maybe averaging about 15 downloads a day at 99 cents. I made it free and the next day it got 5000 downloads - crazy what a difference that 99 cents makes To answer your other question, RevMob is not pay-per-click. The user has to click the ad, download the app, and then launch the app for you to get paid. That is why they pay so well. The big freemium game companies that advertise with RevMob are essentially paying for users because they expect the users to spend a ton of money within their apps

Here's a new article on the paid vs. free breakdown: http://www.bgr.com/2012/09/11/mobile-app-market-analysis-free-apps-dominate/ I also read that free apps are downloaded 100x more then the same app that is not free. Ryan

Hey Absentina, Just in regards to your fantasy football app, I was just wondering for Screen shot #1 (Fantasy Sports Portal) how did you get the thumbnails within the RSS feed? Is this done automatically (off a URL) or did you manual configure it. I am currently using one off a URL and it does not display images. If you dont use a URL, does this mean it additional Feed will need to be manually added? Also for Screenshot #4 (Youtube Videos) I assume this is A/V plug in. I just had a look in control panel. How did you get multiple videos to appear? does it depend upon the URL? On a side not, just watched 'into the wild'. Saw your from Alaska. Great (but sad) movie! Thanks for your help! Cheers, Ben
