How to add the twitter framework using the twitter plugin

Hi, Maybe this is a question for ATRAIN53. Thank you for your plugin. Please, can you specify a little more how to do what you explain to make the plugin works? You explain: "You must import the Twitter Framework into your project for this plugin to work. Link the Twitter framework to your binary and set it as OPTIONAL so that your app will compile if your deployment target is below iOS4. Twitter framework only works on devices with iOS 5 and above" How can I link the twitter framework to my binary and set it as optional? Regards, Jorge

Your welcome, hope it comes in handy! here's the steps to add the framework: https://dev.twitter.com/docs/adding-twitter-framework if you want it to to be optional - once you add it, go back to the frameworks in the build settings and highlight it. it will be showing REQUIRED. just change that to OPTIONAL and you're set :) optional is only needed to build on devices ios 4 the plugin won't work on ios 4, but you can have the framework in your build if it's set to optional.

no problem, hope you're tweeting away. importing frameworks is good to know, there's A LOT of cool code/SDK's you can use out there!

Not still. Please, how can I see the twitter sheet to write messages? When I open from the iPhone simulator the twitter option, I can see the button to tweet and all the page is dark. I have uploaded images and specified background colors, but I can not see these changes (I remove the app, clean and build. Also I add the changes for bt_config) but I only see the button to tweet. Regards, Jorge

lets just go by steps and we'll get this working- 1) Are you iOS 4 or 5? 2) Did you specify the "TweetSheet Screen UIImage" in your control panel? That is the image that shows on the screen along with the "Tweet" button. 3) Did you copy this image to your BT_images folder? 4) What happens in the simulator when you click the tweet button? Perhaps it's just the button name that is confusing you- Clicking that "TWEET" button is what calls up the actual TWEET SHEET that you compose the message on. When you click the "SEND" button on the TWEET sheet that pops up, that is when you actually post the TWEET. maybe think of that Tweet button as more of a 'launch tweet sheet'?

Hi Atrain53, Thank you for your answer. I use IOS 5. I specify the"TweetSheet Screen UIImage" and I have copied it to the BT_images folder. Also I have changed the color of screen , but it is still black. When I click on the tweet button (The only thing I see on the dark screen) a pop up says that I have not specified the twitter account. It seems like no changes are updated, I know the plugin works, but after delete the app on the simulator, clean and build, I do not understand why I can not see these changes. Regards, Jorge

Hi Atrain53, I have added the name of the images into at53_tweet_sheet.m, now it works to show the screen image. On the other hand, a pop up displays when I click on the button to tweet: "no Twitter account found on your device OR you are not iOS 5" Please, where can I specify my twitter account? Regards, Jorge

Nice - you're at the finish line! Sorry this has been so tough, thanks for purchasing and having such patience. this is the last step: On the simulator: find the settings icon, click the twitter icon and set-up an account. on your device: install the twitter app and set-up your account. one the account is verified, send me a tweet :) @skompdev i'll follow back! tip: you can set-up multiple twitter accounts on the simulator. if you do, you get the option in the tweetsheet to pick which account to tweet from.

Hi Atrain53! Thank you for your answer. You are welcome, the plugin worth it! I really appreciate your guide. Now I can tweet from the simulator, it is cool. One last question, is there the option to include a image next to the message on twitter? I have seen it on the plugin options but I can not make it works. Which is the size recommended? Regards, Jorge

Hi Atrain, on a similar note, can you explain why my social framework is showing in my project instead of in targets? I added it to targets, selected optional but cannot understand why the folder is visible in my project Can you advise? Thanks, Derval

Sorry - silly question. I’ve moved it into the frameworks folder :-)
