mailto:.... working on iPhone but not iPad...?

Hi All, So I have the following code: <a class="noHighlight" href="#" onclick="window.location='mailto:[email protected]'" return="">Send an Email</a> The code is working fine on iPhone, iPhone simulator, iPad simulator but not iPad device. When I click it, it simply highlights the text but does not action.... To add to the trouble shooting. When I hold my finger on the link I get the following text: "file:///var/mobile/Applications/65 - 'lots of numbers/letters'...26C/'appname'.app# Any ideas?

I tried <a href="mailto:[email protected]">John Frank</a> but this does not open a mail window. Once tapped nothing happens. Once held down it grants 3 options "New message, Add to Contact and Copy". Is it possible to tap to open an email window on an iPad? Cheers! Ben.
