Apple has confirmed to Wired via e-mail that it will begin accepting online pre-orders of the iPhone 5 during the wee hours of the morning beginning at 12:01 a.m. PDT on Sept. 14. So if you’re hankering for a new iPhone 5, be prepared to fire up the coffee machine tonight. Apple’s carrier partners Sprint, AT&T and Verizon have also confirmed that pre-orders will begin on early Friday morning. Sprint and AT&T will begin pre-orders at 12:01 a.m. PDT Sept. 14, while Verizon will throw open its online doors a full minute earlier at 12 a.m. PDT Sept. 14. If you’re the type of person that enjoys standing in lines, the new iPhone 5 will be available for purchase in Apple retail stores beginning at 8 a.m. local time on Sept. 21. There are 2 ways to buy your iPhone tonight. 1: Apple.com/iphone and refresh until the blue "Buy" button goes active. FireFox browser has a plug-in so the browser will refresh every (user defines the time frame) X amount of seconds so this will make waiting easier. 2: Use the iPhone and iPad app to buy from the Apple Store App. This is what I had to use during the iPhone 4S release because the website was always down and for me was the fastest and most reliable. I stood in lines for both the iPhone 3 and 4 release. I think I'll do the online thing this time.

In my opinion, the best way to do it is to pre-order online, then pick it up in stores.

If you pre order online... you get it shipped to your home free.

Remember some people got their iPhone 4S early because of UPS. Fingers crossed....

I don't really care how you guys order it, just make sure you get me the black one ;-)

Pre orders started about 30 minutes ago... I successfully got mine processed, as the Apple website was down, so I used the apple store app. Did everyone else get their's ordered?

Got mine. Used the Apple Store app on my phone and had no delays or issues.

So shipping has already moved to 2-3 weeks within the first hour of pre-ordering.

Got my order in at 12:10am?confirmation email says delivery on the 21st. :-)

Apple took my money about an hour ago....looks like getting up at 3:00 was worth it!

Got mine but missed out on the first day! Can't believe black jumped to 2 weeks within the first hour. Had the option to get white sooner but passed :)
