Background images dont show up in android project

been making a simple android project which I have tried to add a simple bkgrnd image to by uploading into buzztouch. Have recompiled the app deleted the old version and loaded the new version into eclipse and the bckground image doesnt show up. Is is an image that will only show on certain screens i.e wont show on a simple menu or an HTML page? or do I need to copy the image file into the resources folder? Hope someone can help so that I can continue to learn this whole buzztouch android app thing :) Thanks

Hi @twotonesimone, Uploading the image to buzztouch just acts as a file manager of sorts...a place to put media you'll use in your app. You can get a link to that image from file manager, and specify the URL to the image, and it should work. Or you can add the image to your res > drawable folder, and then specify the filename in your control panel (like background.jpg...no need for paths). Then recompile and it should show up. If you use the URL, you don't need to recompile. Make sense? Mark

tried the url method but no joy, is this because I previously had a background set and the deleted the colour and left the box blank?

The color might block the image. And, are you setting this as a theme, or on individual screens? I've had success doing it on a screen basis. Also, check and see what LogCat says when you load the device in the emulator...it'll give you a clue on whether the image is being loaded or not. One last thing...no capital letters, spaces, or strange characters in the filename. Just a-z0-9. Mark

Awesome! Android is super picky about that. Here is an article that describes designing for different screen sizes. With the way the Android market is...it's very hard! http://developer.android.com/design/style/devices-displays.html Mark
