Quiz BT 1.4 rejected confused on reasoning

Reasons for Rejection: 10.6: Apple and our customers place a high value on simple, refined, creative, well thought through interfaces. They take more work but are worth it. Apple sets a high bar. If your user interface is complex or less than very good it may be rejected Sep 8, 2012 08:59 AM. From Apple. 10.6 We found the user interface of your app is not of sufficient quality to be appropriate for the App Store. Apps that provide a poor user experience are not in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines. Specifically, we noticed your app: - was only a PDF Please evaluate whether you can make the necessary revisions to improve the user experience of your app. Keep in mind that Apple and Apple customers place a high value - and have high standards - on the user interface and the experience an app provides. Apps should be engaging and exciting, enabling users to do something they couldn't do before; or to do something in a way they couldn't do before or better than they could do it before. And apps should be specific to the iOS platform to take the fullest advantage of iOS in delivering a robust user experience. I do not understand what they mean "Was only a PDF" has anyone encountered this before or any suggestions of what to do to get this approved. This app is on Amazon and Google Play just would like to add it to Apple as well...

The app approval process and standards set by apple for apps are really very high. Your app got rejected since it contains only pdf screens. I would suggest you to add a quiz section in your app using the interactive quiz plugin relating to the subject of your app. This would surely help you in getting your app approved on app store. ALL THE BEST!!!

Hi @OTG Applications Sandeep is right, Apple are tight. Unlike Amazon and Google play that allow almost anything no matter of the functionality, looks and UI Apple look at apps with a very critical eye. This can be good and bad. It can force you to up your game which in the long run will be good for you and any potential clients and it keeps the app store as a kind of holy grail. What is the nature of your app? I ask because that will help with improving. You are going to need to add some shiny new features or they will continue to knock it back if it remains as simply a PDF. Things you could add: 1. Map functionality. Can you add in locations for anything? Is this a suitable feature? 2. Image Gallery. You could allow users to interact with the app. Is this something that would lend itself to the app? 3. Quiz. Can you provide some Q&A for your users, set up some quizzes with game center integration. There are so many more things you could do but the trio above are a good starting point. Hope you get it, load of good folks on here have been through the same and will be more than willing to help out. Good luck!

Good morning, Thanks for the responses but that's the thing it is has 4 different interactive quizes and its not simply a PDF, I am not even using a PDF anywhere in my app . I already have 3 other quiz games approved just different topics. Should I just wait a few days and submit again in hopes to get a different reviewer? Thanks , George

We've all done it. If you can post the screenshots here via Dropbox or something then everyone can chime in.

My partner just texted me saying that after asking apple for more information they suggest that we just appeal the decision.

OK. Good man for nudging the thread. You can indeed appeal, I've never done it but many on here have and have had success, others not. I've never submitted a 1.4 app and Apple as you are now seeing - love them as I do - can be right sods when it comes to the approval process, what is good today with Reviewer A is bad tomorrow with Reviewer B. I did have a look at the screenshots and it is indeed not a PDF, bizarre. 1.4 can be tough sometimes though and will not be around or indeed acceptable for ever. Android yes, iOS not so much. If I were you I'd try and make the leap to doing it in 1.5 or better still jumping up to server. Again, 1.4 can get you in but there is so much more to BT now than that menu navigation system. Does it work? Yes. Did it rock and blow us all out of the water? Yes. But Buzztouch is so much more powerful than that now. What you think, can you move to 1.5 quickly? Blow the reviewer out of the water when he see's the improvements you made? I know not all features are Android compatible but over a few nights you could get the app migrated and add in game center and a few slick features. What about BT Server? If you are serious about this game that is indeed the way to go. What you think? Not trying to put you off 1.4 but maybe now is a good time to get your feet wet. Let me know if you need any help with 1.5 or server if you decide.

@MacApple, Well the App did not make it through the appeal as it crashed in the new IOS 6 environment. I guess your right it is time to start learning 1.5 I just was trying to use what I had developed for Android already. Also since I don't have a Mac my Friend/Partner has to deal with all of the IOS stuff. I wish I just had the time and knowledge on how to migrate everything and improve them as well. I am just trying to help out the kids as I am donating most of the revenue to various schools, PTA's and a scholarship fund. Between going to College Full time, Working at LexisNexis Full Time and having a family I am struggling on finding the necessary time to learn ugh. That is why I started to use BT 1.4 last year. Any guidance would be appreciated. Helping these kids means the world to me so I will do whatever it takes to succeed even if it means staying up to the wee hours of the morning to watch videos or read blog posts then that is what I have to do.
