BT_1.5 Share via Twitter screen no longer works?

Hello. The share via twitter link in my existing app on iTunes has stopped working for all users. When the page is launched, the "authorize buzz poster" screen loads, user signs in and is returned to the "post on twitter" screen and it shows "logged out" under the submit button. If submit is pressed, the app crashes. I read that Twitter had changed their api for developers, is this causing my problem? Thank you.

Yup, Twitter changed their policies significantly. Most of these changes are because iOS now supports "Tweet Sheets" natively. This means you'll have some tough decisions to make. Like... --remove the twitter choice from the menu in your current app? --re-compile the app and wire up a Tweet Sheet (native) somewhere. Doable, tough without an understanding of how it works. --re-create the app in 2.0, use the Tweet Sheet plugin, works good but re-creating an entire app can get timely? Most folks are just removing the feature from their current offering. Interestingly, this does not seem to affect everyone using the Share on Twitter screen from v1.5 apps. We have no idea why this is. It could be do to different version of iOS supporting different things. Seems strange that some would work and others would not. That is the case though. In almost all cases it's best to constantly improve and update your app anyway so you could take this opportunity to re-create it in 2.0. Only you will know the best option.

Thank you David. I installed a 2.0 server last spring and have not found the time to work on my app since. I guess Twitter has forced my hand. Might as well start the app over for iOS 6 anyway. Thank you for your valuable time and knowledge.

Yup, no worries. Speaking of iOS 6, you bring up a good point here. We expect to have to make some changes to the core project when iOS 6 is released. It kinda always happens that way with each major iOS release. A few tweaks here, a few there, something always ends up funkey that we have to adjust. Maybe plan to NOT submit anything until AFTER iOS 6 is released in a few weeks? I'm thinking waiting a few weeks now could save you some trouble in say 5 weeks when something significant has changed (on Apple's end). Dunno, just a hunch.
