Is my idea doable for a first app?

Hey everyone, I just opened my Buzz touch account and I am nowhere close to be called developer as of now. However, I do aspire to be! I have the aptitude for coding… as they say, with patience and enthusiasm, I am here to stay. So far, I have basic knowledge of C++ but I have never implemented it on anything. Now, I have many ideas and aspirations in the app world but I am very new to all this and have no clue on where to start. I have taken the first lesson set at Buzztouch and will be proceeding with Xcode tutorials very soon. To begin with, I want to create an app to log one’s water intake per day. I want to keep it very simple and basic with just a couple of screens with options of various quantities. The user can simply click on one of the option on the screen whenever he/she intakes water and by the end of the day the app will tell you the sum. It will keep a log of your intake habits for a month or so. Later on I can add reminders and stuff but as of now I just want to know whether one can build such an app with the exposure I stated. Or do I need to think of something even simpler? I will be making it for iOS. I do not have the developer ID yet, will only be getting it once I am thorough with the process of development and have something solid to publish. This activity is the first step towards learning in this field. Thanks in advance, I will be waiting for your inputs.

Hi @PRS, Welcome to buzztouch! Glad you're here to stay...this site and the service buzztouch offers absolutely rocks! You absolutely could do what you want with buzztouch, and with minimal coding. My first thought was to have a form with intake buttons attached to a mySQL database somewhere to store the info. But, you could also save the info locally using localStorage, and perhaps jQuery/HTML5 to tie it all together. I kinda like the mySQL database option just because it's easier for me to implement. But, those are two routes you could investigate! Please continue to keep posting your questions. Lots of people here with lots of experience who love to help! Mark

Hi Mark, Thanks a lot. This seems like a good start. And believe me the questions will keep coming. Thanks again. Cheers, PRS
