Droid SDK manager setup

Hey Friends, I'm new and I was in the process of setting up my Dev Enviornment according to the step by step that GoNorthWest provides, but after I installed the JDK then the ADK everything looks good except the screen in my sdk manager doesn't look like the one in the tut? I'm kinda nervous to continue because GoNorthWest stresses how critical it is to select the right API's. Anyways, mine doesn't have the folder for API 4, and the folder for API 8 doesn't have the SDK platform or the google API's it only lists dual screen API's, Real 3d, and galaxy tab. Can someone please let me know which tick boxes in which folders I should select so I don't run into any problems down the road? Thanks in advance for any and all help in figuring this stuff out Charlie

Google 2.2 API level 8 for BTv1.5 & BTv2.0 Fred Edit: But get all API above 2.2 you'll need them as time goes on, and get Google 1.4 API level 6 for BTv1.4.

Fred, Thanks for such a fast response, but like I said, I'm new and I'm not exactly sure what to make of your answer. Could you please be specific? sorry for needing someone to hold my hand, but hey maybe someday I'll be the one to hold the hand of some other noob who finds himself in my shoes over this same issue... Thanks again, Charlie

In the sdk manager in eclipse (there should be an icon along the top somewhere) are options for, something like, check for updates and download all available packages, do that (you'll need higher api's than api8 at a later date once you start messing around with libraries and jar files). Grab a coffee or two while it's running, it'll probably take a while! At the end you should have all the api's up to date. It's safe enough to tick all the boxes if/when you're prompted to.

Hi @brokeneck, Welcome to buzztouch! Awesome to see another Arizonan here! Check out this step-by-step, illustrated, start-to-finish guide on getting your Android environment up and running. It has a graphic that shows you what you need to check. http://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/buzztouch_For_Android-A_Users_Guide.pdf If you stick with the Google API 8, you should be OK until Google deprecates some code, or changes something that causes things to no longer work. But no doubt @David from buzztouch will notify us of the change, and we'll make adjustments. Until then, what you see in the document is really all you need to get going. If there's something you see on the list you might think you'll need (like Google USB drivers for attaching a device, or Admob stuff), just tick it an install it. Can't hurt much! Mark
