app not running in emulator

I put together an android app in Eclipse, Juno release, using standard plugins in buzztouch, and finally got it to run. (I'm not a programmer.) I tried to build another app doing nothing different and got the following message in the emulator: The application Tim's Tavern (processcom.timstavern) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Trying again and again, I figured something was wrong. I tried building another stripped down app --just two screens--and got the same message. Additionally the button screen wouldn't save the images I associated with the Button Name. I thought after building one app it would be easy to duplicate what I had done. Any idea what's going on?

Not enough info. My online guide The Buzztouch Process should help you. Try to identify the problem. Are you BTv1.5 or BTv2.0 ? Fred www.MySkylla.com

I'm using BTv2.0. I went into Log Cat and found that a screen item ID couldn't be found. In the config file, the file and ID referenced was for a previous app that I was building over. I had changed the app's name and thought I could do that. I was trying to conserve my three free builds to practice on, and somehow there is "stuff" left over from the previous build. How can I get rid of the previous build's "stuff" or do I have to start with a completely new project?

Go to "List View" in Screens & Actions and you can delete them.

I've done that before I started building the second app over the old app. I deleted all the old screens and started with new screens.

Thanks for the online guide, however. I learned that I've been doing some things I shouldn't have done, like obtaining the source code several times when I made changes in my first app--but it is running. Any other ideas?

I have no clue how to update the file. Do I just delete it from the project and try to put my information back into the screens again? Will the BT_config.txt file then have the new information in it?

Thanks, Fred, but I just don't have enough knowledge to understand your article. I would like to just start over, but I don't know how to remove the content, images, etc. from the project. The config file has images and screen names from the previous project I thought I was getting rid of. I may just have to scrap the app and start over with a new one.

Copy and paste the Config data from control panel to BT_config.txt If you don't understand that just delete everything in control panel Rebuild Then re-download source code

The Config data from the control panel is exactly the same data as is in the BT_config.txt file. I think I would just be replacing the BT_config.txt with the same data. Maybe I'll try to delete everything in the control panel and try to rebuild. Nothing to lose, I guess. Thanks for the help.

Fred, I've deleted everything in the control panel and the config data looks right when I put in the new application name. I should be able to start over. Thanks for your help. Mike

Things are ok with the delete except that I still can't get the button images to save in the button item properties screen. I have the images downloaded, select them, save them, but the images do not save. The button text saves but not the image. I don't see anywhere in the config data a mention of the button name.

Have you added the images to the source code & exported a new binary?

I uploaded the images to the images file, associated them with the button on the button item properties page and saved the changes, but when I go back to check the button item properties the images for small and larger devices are gone. I don't know what you mean by adding images to the source code any more than what I have done. And if exported a new binary means exported a new source code, yes I have, but the changes do not appear in the config file. If you mean something other than what I have done by adding images to the source code and exported a new binary, then I don't understand. I have little knowledge about code and terminology, but I can follow specific directions. I can open files, cut and paste, etc., but I need very specific directions on what to do where. Thanks for your patience.

Thanks, Fred. I'll study your Buzztouch Process. I need to have push notification added to my app, and I can already see from documentation I have obtained from xtify and urban airship that I'll need some help. Would you be available for some tutoring/demonstrating for a fee? Mike

Thanks. I'm about 8 1/2 hours from Nashville. I'll keep you posted on my progress or lack thereof in the next few weeks. Mike
