IOS 6 replacement of Google Maps.

Hi guys and girls, First time poster, developer, forum user! I'm starting this journey and have done some reading on the new iOS6, which will see removal of Google maps and replacement with Apples own map service. Any idea how this will/could impact apps that use maps developed with Buzztouch? I fully acknowledge this may have been asked and answered elsewhere but couldn't find it! Cheers, Josh.

My understanding is that the change will only affect iOS6 and that Google Maps will remain for previous versions. Fred

I use BT Map screens in 2 APPS. I tested them on an iPhone running iOS Beta 6.4 and there is no difference in how they run on 5.1. The native map program is different in iOS 6 but APPS still use Google. Mike

In my understanding the app uses its own map interface, except when launching the "Driving Directions" - it then launches the Native Maps app to route driving directions, maybe it will launch the new Map App instead of the current one? who knows.. Dave

So, for BTv2.0: Location Map plugin - no effect? Or, would would launch the Apple native maps app. Launch Native App (Google Maps) would launch the iOS native maps app. Custom URL plugin would launch the Apple native maps app. HTML Doc plugin - perhaps would launch the Apple native maps app Fred

If you tap the Maps icon in iOS 6 it opens and the only text is on the 2nd screen that says Data from TomTom and others. Directions are much quicker loading. Not running 6.0 on a 4s so not sure how voice turn by turn works. Mike

Oh ok I see what you mean. So an app can still use the Google maps API's independently from the iOS. I thought Apple would have restricted it based on their native iOS map function no longer using it but that would probably upset a lot of app developers wouldn't it? Thanks guys, like I said I'm new to almost all of this! Cheers, Josh.
