Have you thought about TestFlight? Far easier.

Superb way to share apps with potential clients. Sign up for an account my good man. You'll be pitching apps in mins. Well maybe ten mins.

NP. Used it myself, great service that makes it far simpler. Essentially removes all the pain of sharing dev apps.

I also think that the user can drag the ipa into iTunes, with their device connected, and it'll install that way. Mark

Correct Mark I believe you need to drag the Provisioning file as well to iTunes.

Good thing about TestFlight is that you don't have to bother with the UDID and so on. All powered remotely by the tester. Drop in their email address and voila. Have a good weekend all.

I use test flight as well. It makes things much easier. a side note, with the standard developer account you can have 100 devices (per year) linked to a profile. When you delete one you can not reuse the spot. If you are making apps for clients you may want to use their developers account (if they have one) so you dont eat up all of your spots. Another thing to remember with Ad-Hoc is that the only way someone can open your .ipa is if the provisioning profile that the app is code signed with includes the devices UDID. (test flight takes care of this process)

There is a step in the Test Flight process where you have to cut/paste the UDID and physically put that in the provisioning profile in the dev portal. What Test Flight actually does is 'extract' the UDID from the device for you via the sign-up process. It posts that UDID in a file on your dashboard and you cut/paste it. They don't update your provisioning profile for you. (If they do I missed that option?) and don't forget if you have Self Hosted, you've got your OWN Test Flight already. Over The Air Distrbution. It works, I use it a lot but it does require you getting the UDID yourself. The UDID is clear as day in iTunes if you connect your device. Interesting on that 100 device restriction - is that Apple or Test Fight? if it's the latter than using Davids OTAD would alleviate that. But obtaining the UDID is still easier with TF.

The 100 device is Apple. Standard account is 100 Enterprise account is 300 I have an Ad-Hoc app that our sales team uses. Only 30 users, (all iPads) so I don't really bump up against the limit, but now we are rolling out iPhones, so that is 30 more, and every time someone has to get a new device, (lost, broken, etc) that is 1 more.
