App icon upload folder

Hi guys, whenever I upload an app icon, I always get this "Please select an image to upload" error and this: Oops, a PHP error was trapped. File: Unknown Line: 0 Message: File upload error - unable to create a temporary file What should be the permissions for the /files folder and subfolders? Currently I have this: /files - 0777 /applications - 0755 /custom - 0755 /plugins - 0755 /temp - 077 /theme - 0755

Must be self hosted? Different severs use different number variances to control file permissions. Sounds crazy I know, but, some hosts do all sorts of interesting things. All the files and subdirectories in /files need to be writeable and executable by PHP. From command line, chmod -R 0777 files "-R" is recursive. Experiment with your permission number (0755, 0777, etc) if you don't know how to determine the settings on your box.

Hi David, yes it's self hosted. I have made all the files and subdirectories in /files recursively writeable and executable (0777) but it still gives me this error: "File upload error - unable to create a temporary file". Is there any other way to upload app icons?

I ran into a similar issue recently (not the icon, but another file). Changing the /applications folder recursively to 0777 solved it.

When creating links to menu items that will form the basis of your app, is it better to place you data in a word or pdf file or creat a web page to list the data that forms the app?

Hi MGoBlue, my /applications folder is already set recursively to 0777 but the error is still the same :(

Okay. One other thought. I remember a forum thread a while back about an icon issue. They had a .jpg file that they just renamed to .png and that was the problem. You can't just rename an extension, but need to save the file in the new format. Not sure if that helps. What format is the file you're trying to upload? Would you mind emailing it to me and I'll have a look? jeff [at] jc-evans.com

It was a file format problem. I re-saved it as a jpg and emailed it back to you.

Hi MGoBlue, well actually, I just found out from my web host that I have ran out of disk space. Did some cleanup and then I re-uploaded the app icon and viola! But thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it :)
