How to change the app icon on the iphone and ipad app

I have an app already in the app store that I wish to do an update to the app's icon. What is the process? I know it has to be done in Xcode but the new xcode is very confusing to me and I am not sure of the steps. Im guessing I will have to submit the change to apple as well somehow.

If you want the icon that is display in the Appstore to change: Go to itunes, submit an update and edit the apps main information and you'll see the option to upload the icon. Most likely you'll need to upload a new binary as well and wait this horrible wait time for an icon update. If you want to update the icon on the devices, you'll have to save over the icon in xcode and submit an update + that binary. Good luck

Yes, you need to go into your xcode project. Go to project summary, and drag and drop your new icon onto the old icon image. Make sure you have both the one for the retina display and the regular display. Now, you can do what mysps has suggested. Apple will reject your app update if your icon in iTunes doesn't match the one in Xcode.

Icons get changed in iOS apps all the time..it's certainly permitted. @mysps has the right tact here. You could also upload the new icon to your app control panel, download the source, recompile (thus creating an update with the new icon), and submit to the store. You will have to add the new icon to iTunes as well. Mark

What about simply changing the icons in the BT_Art folder? They are ..... icon57.png, icon72.png, icon114.png Clean the project and then rebuild. Then resubmit to the store.

As everyone as said above the icons in your BT folder have specific names. Just change those files to your new icon. Nothing else to do in xcode except recompile your new binary to submit to iTunes conncet. You also have to upload the new icon to iTunes connect- which now requires a larger version than before for the retina display. When you initially click to add an update you'll see it automatically uses the same icon you had initially but there is a way to upload new icon. Do both and you're good to go. I have changed my app icons before and Apple doesn't seem to care.

Thank you so much for all the help! I will try and see if I can get the icon changed in xcode and then resubmit.
