Installing a different Virtual Device

Total newbie, working through the instructions for setting up eclipse for Buzztouch. I've installed everything according to the instructions and reached the stage where the virtual device is configured. Choosing a "New" AVD only gives me the option for google API level 16 and that is a target platform of 4.1. The install document shows a target platform of 1.6 and 2.2. How do I get the correct AVD file into Eclipse ? I'd rather not rely on all my eventual users having 4.1.

Welcome! Open the sdk manager in eclipse (the icon is usually next to the avd manager icon) and see if you have multiple api's listed. If you haven't, download/install all the available packages. It'll take ages, but you should end up with all the api's. If you already have multiple api's listed in the sdk manager - I've got no idea!

Excellent, thanks. I've done as you suggest and it's installing as I write. Really quick response, it's good to be part of such a strong support network. Look forward to reaching the stage where I can contribute.

Manchester? Red, Blue or indifferent? The forum's a big feature of buzztouch, it's ridiculously helpful. There are a few strong characters on here who just like helping people and I think it rubs off a little bit on the rest of us.

Red since the rest of the family is, but mostly indifferent. Thanks again for the help, it seems to be working now - though the emulator is very slow to respond. Think I'll invest in a cheap Android phone once I get a bit further in with my App.

@Colin - Yeah, the emulator is notoriously slow to respond. A phone is a good move, you can plug them in to the pc and use as an emulator to get error reports etc. @Mark- Makes a change! :)
