Using device location to log address

As user device reports its current location. is it possible to use that data to fill an address field on a form without the need to go through a database etc.

You would have to find some way to translate the device location, which is in longitude/latitude, to an address. That sort of reverse translation I think would be extremely difficult because of the inexactness of the GPS coordinates. But its an interesting question!

would be good if i could find a way to do this. The address itself does not have to be exact. so long as it logs correct street name and just throws in any number close by as the user can simply change the house number if its incorrect (and most of the time it will be due to inaccuracy of gps) but its not that important for what I want it for.

After I got Marks EXCELLENT 'posting device location' tutorial working, I did some thinking about mods/uses for it. I came across this before and plan to try it sometime when I pick up the project again..... "Reverse Geocoding" is what you're looking to do.... http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2054635/reverse-geocoding-with-google-map-api-and-php-to-get-nearest-location-using-lat
