Apple review process

An update for my app has been "In Review" for 4 days now - here's the amazing thing though - NOBODY HAS LOOKED AT IT! The analytics included in the update show no new users, activity, nothing since 2 weeks ago when I was testing it. Seriously, the whole App Store review system is so inconsistent and mysterious, I would love to experience one day in that office and see what exactly goes on.

Yep! It's very curious how it works. Do they just put everything in a queue, and as one pops off (approved or whatever), an email gets sent to a reviewer to pick up the next one? Seems amazing to me that it takes roughly 7 days to review an app. I wonder how much automation is involved, or if the entire thing is by hand (as in how a customer would do it). Weird stuff! Mark

I understand they review it offline, if so there wouldn't be any views. Fred

You actually know exactly when it goes into testing, because you get an email stating that it's in review. It would be interesting to correlate the time of that email with any new views, to see if they indeed do it online or off. Not that it really matters much (assuming you synced your config file prior to building), but it would allow us to peer into the box a bit! Maybe somebody could build an app that secretly launches the camera and records the process! Mark

Yeah lately is been awful, actually since the beginning of July. I suspect vacations or layoffs? During the Olympics the wait was 13+ days, now it seems to be lower. I try to keep a look out at this website for averages: http://reviewtimes.shinydevelopment.com/ i had two apps in review for a week :( i can't imagine christmas

I think they gather around a Victorian table and summon up the ghost of Steve jobs for approval. If it falls into the very pretty but over simplistic menu system then it suitably apple'd and accepted right away. if its got a logical structure but seems to close to what bill gates would design then it gets a penalty of 10 days, and if it looks like it work as well on an android phone then it gets a 14 day penalty. Anyway this is my humble musing on that ever so friendly but slightly Orwelian mega corp. PS so good to be back on the forum

Dear mysps It is great to be back, 13000 points !!!! I feel like Daniel vs Goliath when I see how much u guys have done. Ps is you image taken from the Uk space programme, I know we have austerity measures but one day it would be nice to have something go out to space from uk that has a heartbeat.

When my app was in the approval process, I saw where the location was. I guess the tester viewed the app online and chose to have the app use their location!

@mysps Now that's a cool site! (the review time one). It's been about a week for me now, nothing yet. Updates seem to go a bit faster ;) Cheers, David buzztouchmods.com

14 days is what I tell clients. Nice idea on using FLURRY to spy on them. I just started putting it in my apps, I'm gonna watch that closer! I thought the old BT usage map was cool too for spying on Apple. I would love to see this for Self Hosted....
