Moving to Self-Hosted.

Hi Guys, I have on the App store a buzztouch-hosted app that I would like to move to Self-Hosted to make the most of the fancy plugins. Is that possible at all or is it too late? Thanks, Farcat

You could always build out your next update in BT Server and that would take care of the switch. You would have to build the app from scratch though. App v1.0 is hosted BT 1.5 App v1.1 is Server 2.x

My understanding was that custom plugins will be available for BT hosted apps? Hope I'm right :/

Yup that's possible as MacApple says, simply rebuild your app and submit it as a update to your current BT hosted. @rave, I was wondering that too, wouldn't that be a big blow to self hosted users through, and thus to buzztouch self hosted income? I'm a little confused on that end too! Cheers, David buzztouchmods.com

Hi David, it'll be made clear soon enough! The fact that a custom plugin appears in your list of plugins on bt.com would suggest that when it's published it can appear in everyones list. I guess there'll be options for where it will be available and also to make private. I don't think it'll be a big blow for self-hosted users if that's the case. Won't be long until we find out!

Hey, thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I have looked into custom plugins for BT hosted. They look very tricky (for my level) and do require coding knowledge, therefore not such a blow for self-hosted users and buzztouch. But I like a good challenge. But that's not the real issue here, I was more interested in moving to self-hosted so I could make the control panel accessible to a third party (client) and have unlimited number of screens and views. My app is getting fatter and fatter... So, I upgrade to self-hosted, rebuild my app on my own server using the self-hosted control panel and my viewers are none the wiser? Right? Cheers, Farcat

I think you're right. In any case, if you create some plugins, you still have a screen limit to worry about, so that would be the big push/change to go self hosted, rather then plugins. Cheers! David buzztouchmods.com
